Schloss Fontanelli •
In 1856, after marrying a wealthy Romanian princess, a German prince aspired to become the ruler of the Romanian principalities. And he started building a #countryhouse to match his ambitions. His name was Emil zu Sayn Wittgenstein Berleburg, deputy of Tzar Nikolai I of Rusia, husband of Pulcheria Cantacuzino Pașcanu. Although his ambitions never came to be, he left behind a modern estate, fit for a high class Western aristocrat. Today, although little still remains of the historical fabric, one can still see the initials of Emil and Pulcheria on one of the facades of the mansion.
