I used to drink nothing but soft drinks, 24/7. It's hard to give up the fizz, so rather than try to give it up and make this journey more difficult than it needs to be, I've switched it up for something MUCH healthier. Soda water with lemon and cucumber, it's so refreshing and honestly even more enjoyable than soft drinks, because it doesn't affect my sleep like Coke used to. Greek Beans With Tomatoes Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil or rice bran oil 1 onion, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, crushed 900 g/2lb 4 oz/4 cups canned chopped/crushed tomatoes 800 g/1 lb 12 oz/4 cups canned cannelloni beans, rinsed and drained 2 tbsp chopped chives leaves 2 tbsp thyme leaves 125ml/4fl oz/1/2 cup vegetable stock, plus extra if needed 450g/1lb green beans 2 tbsp extra virgin, olive oil Crusty bread or quinoa to serve Method: Heat the oil in a saucepan over a medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook for 5-8 minutes until softened. Add the tomatoes and cannelloni beans, and stir to combine. Add the dill and thyme, then pour in 125ml 4fl oz/1/2 cup stock str, then simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the green beans and cook for 10 minuets, or until they are tender. Add a little more liquid if the the mixture catches on the pan. Remove from the heat and drizzle with the olive oil. ๐ŸŒž More Please ๐ŸŒž Who would have thought that spending so much time in Singapore would see me with a Vit D deficiency?! And a pretty bad one - enough to attribute some of my low energy symptoms, foggy mindedness. My doctor has literally prescribed getting out into late afternoon sun when I can. Chances are, most folks are Vit D deficient and this has a huge impact on a full spectrum of physiological & Mental function. When was the last time you had a full spectrum blood test? ๐Ÿ’‰ I like to do mine at least once 6 months - a year to see what my body is up to. There is so much to learn! This is our one life, our one body as a life vessel, Iโ€™ve shares it so many times. Whilst mine is imperfect and dysfunctional in a variety of ways (oh the things you canโ€™t see from a picture!) Shah Alam Enduride 2019 yesterday ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ 155km endurance ride from Shah Alam - Banting - Bagan Lalang - KLIA - Rimbayu - Shah Alam. The route is similar to C-Cycle Challenge Century Ride last year, i.e. mostly flat road (thank god ๐Ÿ˜…), enable us riders to push to the max ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป As usual, my strategy is to find a reasonable speed peloton (30km/h ++) and stay in it, and try to share the load too & not just wheel-sucking others. Tried to make it a teamwork thing. The organisers were friendly people, I guess they are cyclists too, really understand how tired we are & take good care of us at the water stations. Good job guys ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Overall, I really enjoy this ride and also improved my speed and timing, shaved about 30 mins++ from last yearโ€™s similar route ride. I was having high self-doubt before the race and almost DNS, as body still felt tired from travelling & holiday in JB & Singapore, and just came back the day before the race. Training was also very minimal. YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY NUMBERS โ—๏ธ โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Do not let the number on the scale size define who you are โŒ โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € People can get too obsessive about the number on the scales and I personally think too many things can affect that number that are out of your control. This is something I always stress to my clients as it can be really de-motivating if you are eating well and training hard but the number on the scales doesnโ€™t reflect that โ€“ donโ€™t let this get you down and take over your life ๐Ÿšซ โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € These are my top tips on tracking progress: ๐Ÿ”บ Take progress pictures and if youโ€™re feeling deflated then look back and you will most likely be surprised at how much of a difference there is ๐Ÿ”บ Take measurements of key areas and try to do it at the same time of the day - but again DONโ€™T get too obsessed with the numbers ๐Ÿ”บ Think more about how you feel, and even how your clothes feel โ€“ do they feel looser lately? Or do they feel tighter if youโ€™re trying to get THICC? โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Give these a try if you feel your motivation is low and to help keep you on track. This photo is FAR from flattering, but I need to post it. I started my weight loss journey 3 months ago and have lost 7.8kg so far, but I still look very much the same, minus some bloating.
