Needing my Iceland 🇮🇸 fix, I went back to a few of my favorites for a new edit.... this place is still one of my favorites. Out of the 50 photos I took here, ONE had virtually no water drops... I was soaked to my underwear... but it was 100% worth it.... . . . ***************************************************** www.parker-burkett.com ***************************************************** #canonusa #hot_shotz #theoutbound #neverstopexploring #thegreatoutdoors #adventure_culture #depthsofearth #rei #sunset #adventurevisuals #travelphotography #roamtheplanet #photographer #ourplanetdaily #lowepro #instadaily #goatworthy #exploreiceland #optoutside #way2ill #icelandsecret #headed_elsewhere #peoplewhoadventure #jaw_dropping_shots #travel #iceland #adventurevisuals #rei1440project #wanderlust #icelandtravel

There is beauty everywhere you look. At times even if you cannot "see" it, you can feel it. The beautiful people of Bera will always, always hold a special place in my heart. In the ruggedness of the terrain their generosity and welcoming nature made us feel so welcome. All throughout our interaction with her, I did not see her face but the kindness in her voice and in her smile I will always remember.

There are a lot of things I am extremely grateful for in my life...traveling and seeing places I had only heard of as a child is high on that list. This place gave me all the feels.

There is a quiet in the air and a stillness in the house. After been on the road on and off since June 23rd, I feel like my body and my mind need to rest. Officially this long weekend of labor day marks the end of summer and the beginnings of the quiet season - a season of transitions of not only nature around us but also within us. But this weekend, I saw pumpkin spice lattes being advertised, a preview of prepping for Thanksgiving meal at a grocery store and even on how we should get a jump start on Christmas shopping for a stress free holiday season. Why can we not just enjoy the moment we are in, instead of rushing ahead to the season that is to come? When did life become a constant race of what the future brings as opposed to what we have in this moment! I want to go back to those summer nights when the only thing on my mind was enjoying the warm sun on my face and the beautiful mountains in my line of sight!! - what about you? Are you racing ahead or enjoying the moment?

There is just something about reflections in photos that makes the image seem magical. An otherwise ordinary town in the middle of rural Portugal made special by this canal that created the most amazing reflections during the day and shadows at night! 🙌 A quick tip for creating travel photos outside the norm, look for things outside the norm🤗 - beauty is everywhere not just in what others see!

The concept and definition of home always puzzles me. I used to think when I buy my first home, I would be in it forever. It will hold all my possessions and would be a place I would be most attached to and in love with. Years later as I look back at all the places I have been and all the homes I have lived it, I realized that the ones that hold the most meaning are not the stuff within its four walls but in fact the ones where the people I most care about have been, the experiences I have had and the memories I have imprinted in my brain. The by-lanes of Chennai will always be my home. I have left a huge part of my heart wandering these streets and to think I never really lived there or owned a home there - strange are the ways of the heart😆 - don't you agree?

I have to admit when I first got to the Taj, it was about 100deg, super crowded, and loud. I was alone and a bit overwhelmed with all that was happening around me. There was major work being done and scaffolding was everywhere. I did not get what was so special...my experience was not giving me any reason to be in awe of this place. But I forced myself to stop and think bigger picture. I put my camera away, closed my eyes and shut out all the noice. Then it hit me - what the Taj stood for, the magnitude of monument, the story and the way it has stood the test of time. I felt like I was a million miles away and was really about to appreciate everything that my mind's eye was seeing and my heart was experiencing. Isn't it funny how sometimes the most amazing things loose their luster because we expect so much from it? But if you hold on to just the simplicity of it all, it blows your mind! Looking forward to another visit to the Taj soon! and this time, I will be better prepared :)

Often we travel far and wide for adventure and magic! But if we look closely, magic is right outside your front door or in my case, my neighborhood 😊 I had a chance to test out the Geekoto 77 tripod on a recent trip and was quite impressed with this little travel tripod. It is lightweight and super functional. But what I loved was that it fit lengthwise in my carryon luggage. Other tripods fit diagonally with little room for other essentials ( hello clothes and shoes anyone 😂). But with the Geekoto 77 I had plenty of room. I also found it easy to setup and take down. I was coming back from a shoot and saw this magical sunset just as I was pulling in. Of course I had to stop and take that shot! If you are looking for a light weight travel tripod, check out the Geekoto 77

📸 by @parker_burkett : Ship Rock has been on my “must see” list for years, and after several failed attempts, i was finally able to make my way there to see this magnificent place. Ship Rock is composed of fine-grained volcanic rocks, which solidified in the vent as the volcano cooled and became inactive. It has long stretched volcanic rock in wall form coming from the core volcanic plug center. To the Navajo, this is a sacred rock that they treasure, and seeing it in person you can understand why. In my second image you can see a larger pano of the space, but the rock wall runs miles in two directions, and resembles a bird from an aerial view. Truly magnificent, and I’m glad I was finally able to see it with my own eyes. . . . My current mood right now! After being on the road for a month and exploring a part of the world with those who hold my heart, being silent and collecting memories as opposed to posting constantly seems like the best way to live this season! Oh! I did take a lot of photos 😊 and eventually they will make their way online but for now just reliving those for myself is the way I want to spend the last few weeks of summer! #dontdoitforthegram

The people you meet in your travels are some of the most memorable parts of your journey. This elder of the village lives sort of by himself, tending to his sheep and keeping watch on the trail. He stops all the people that walk by the trail and chats with them, offers them a cup of that amazing mountain cha and shares his life. He makes his own clothes from the wool of his sheep, cooks from the land and has lived his whole life in that same village. I could have sat and listened to him all day because there is so much life and wisdom in those eyes!

India is a place for foodies and food lovers. And for even someone like me who is neither of those, there are gastronomic adventures to be had at every corner. Would you believe me if I said this was our meal camping and hiking in the Indian Himalayas. Fresh local peaces, sweet onions, crunchy cucumbers, spicy hot local chili and a generous sprinkle of garam masala was quickly whipped up at around 9000ft while we setup camp and gazed at the Trishul mountain range! All local fare, all organic and all absolutely yummy! This is my entry for @passionpassport #PPWorldFlavors

Keep it real! This is one of my most 'terrible' photos...shot at around 3200ISO and severely underexposed because I literally had less than 2 secs to click this. BUT one of my most beloved memories.... Here is the backstory We were walking a path in the mountains and suddenly I hear this intense squaking behind me. We turn and see this lady holding this chicken and gosh what a racket he was making. She was being so patient with it and also holding him really delicately and speaking calmly to him. So we just assumed it was a pet and asked her where she was going with it. She said home and when we asked her why she was talking him home, she answered 'For dinner of course'. I think my shocked expression was very amusing to her. When I asked if I could take a picture of the chicken, that's when she really burst out laughing! An imperfectly perfect memory, don't you think?

Somewhere behind all that smog and fog and whatever else is there in the air is a city that I love, a city that I grew up in and a city that holds such wonderful memories of my childhood. Every time I go back, I feel like I loose a little bit of my past to the smog, fog, modernization as yet another childhood haunt is torn down in the name of progress! :( But regardless, this city holds my heart! Do you have a fav place in the world that has a fav memory?
