Visited 2 nurseries early this morning. Bought some stuff for my chilli growing project. Hung out for a few hours with Rob at Broms in the Berg, in the Hermitage. Rob's about 70 and has a massive nursery with rare and beautiful tropical plants. He's future me, with no beard and Black Crocs. He gave me a Neoregelia Silverado - which is a magnificent flowering bromeliad. And I bought some other pretty things from him too. After that I came home and gardened, until lunch croissants with jam and tea and koeksisters with my gang. Then went back into the garden until dark, planting out our tomatoes. Then delicious supper with Star Wars theme and The Last Jedi, with my Light Side not The Dark Side girls. My fingernails are sore and black, while I tap on this screen. My back aches. What a magical, perfect day. Tomorrows looking pretty similar. If there's a heaven out there in the great mystery, this is what I choose everyday. • • • • • Follow me :➡ @gardening_for_life For More 😉 . . . . ⤵ Double tap & tag your friend Below! ________________

My first blueberry tomatoes. Would’ve been 8 but it seems like some bug got to them first. I have lil covers for my tomatoes I’ll be putting on themtoday. Cause they are so damned rude. At least on my big guys 😂. I picked 2 a lil earlier. Cause well I want to eat them and not them so 🤷🏻‍♀️. But the two that ripened on the vine were delicious. I’m so excited with all the tomatoes I’ve been getting. Talk about a great season 🥰. I’ve never ever gotten so many before. I think I finally got their care right 😂. You know I’ve always hated cherry tomatoes. But these home grown ones I’m a huge fan of. More please. . . . . . #tomatoes #heirloomtomatoes #harvest #myvictoryharvest #fallgarden #growfoodnotlawns #thehappygardeninglife #garden #gardening #greens #microgreens #gardenharvest #gardenersofinstagram #gardenblogger #permaculture #growyourown #seedmail #bounty #토마토 #growyourownfood #blackgirlswithgardens #gardensofinstagram #urbangarden #growsomethinggreen #salad #pasta #foodporn #fearlessfoodys #getyourgrowon #mint2grow

ORNAMENT GRASSES FOR WINTER INTEREST- The neighborhood I live in has experienced massive growth over the last few year with several new housing developments nearby. The one thing I was pleased about was the use of ornamental grasses in their landscapes. These grasses provide height, structure and year-long interest and are easy to grow. . Some of the varieties for winter interest I have observed being planted in my area are:. . PAMPAS GRASS - This grass can reach heights of up to 10 ft. (3 meters) and create year-long privacy with tall, strong stems and showy plumes. The fluffy plumes look attactive with a dusting of frost or snow and these grasses keep their fullness and structure throughout the winter. . MISCANTHUS GRASS - is a versatile grass that turns from green in the warmer months to a burgundy in the winter. Miscanthus also offers up shelter and habitat during the winter months for the birds. . FEATHER REED GRASS - Feather Reed Grass (‘Karl Foerster’ is the most widely known) can grow to be up to 6 ft.(1.82 meters) tall and is a strong vertical grower, making it another great option for privacy planting. The feathery plumes add interest to the landscape by swaying in the winter breeze. . https://tinyurl.com/ybv8yxmz. . Source American Meadows. . One of my absolute favourite house plants has to be the gorgeous Fittonia. I had to buy a few of these beauties when we visited the awesome @botanical_norwich I love the vivid pink veins on these leaves but I have to say, the white veined variety are just as good in my book!! • • • • #gyo #plantsofinstagram #seeds #gardening #growyourown #homegrown #groworganic #igdaily #thegoodlife #noedit #growsomethinggreen #nofilter #follow #plantbased #iphoneonly #blogger #instaphoto #seed #greenthumb #lovehouseplants #instagood #amazing #fittonia #garden #plants #houseplants #houseplantsofinstagram #pink #gardener #green

How about a simple winter dessert? Semolina with homemade applesauce and caramelized apples on top! 😋🍎 The taste reminds me of the red fair apples that you can by at the Christmas markets right now and eat like a giant lollipop. Oh, and I added a few verbena leaves - fits perfectly with the sweetness of the caramel! • • • • • #foodgawker #buzzfeat #foodblogfeed #ichliebefoodblogs #foodforfoodies #healthyfoodshare #feed52 #plantpowered #healthyfoodshare #wholesomefood #onmyplate #semolina #dessert #applesauce #getminimal #lovefoodstyling #makeitdelicious #fromscratch #foodblogfeed #onthetable #foodbloggerpro #learnfoodphotography #huffposttaste #foodinstagram #urbangarden #growyourown #urbangardening #growsomethinggreen #growyourownfood

Bismillah 15 Desember 2018 Torenia's seedlings seemed to work. even though searching for the seeds was difficult, so small and soft.🌺🌺🌺 .... Benih kiriman mba manda @hendra_hydroponic alhamdulillah sepertinya berhasil mba 😂😂 meskipun saya sempat bingung yg mana benihnya hahaha. Mba kasih bunga kering utuh dan ini pengalaman pertama sy nanem torenia, jadi dengan niat baik aja hahaha saya ambil bagian tengah daun dan sy taburkan. Saya serius gak bs lihat itu benihnya mba xixixi. #torenia #edible #edibleflower #ediblesgarden #ediblegarden #veggipatch #vegetablesgarden #herbsgarden #herbs #growyourownfood #growyourown #growsomethinggreen #growwhatyoueat #sustainableharvest #sustainablesprout #urbangardener #urbanorganicgardener #gardenisfun

Teeny tiny Brussels again this year. One of these years I’ll crack the art of growing them in time for Christmas, but never mind, they’ll be ready by Valentine’s Day 💚💚💚 I mean who doesn’t want sprouts for Valentines?

This zucchini just keeps on giving! The stem is now about 1m long, and it’s still going strong. I forgot how big zucchini plants grew, this one is taking up a LOT of realestate and I’ve had to cut back about 60% of the leaves that shade out other plants.. but I’m letting it stay for now!

With the onset of winter to heat or not to heat your greenhouse is a common dilemma. This old heater we use to dress our displays at the show is a classic paraffin heater, the storm lanterns on top of the heater also provide a small heat source along with illumination. There are now a range of modern electric heaters that you can install. These can be thermostatically controlled to just heat when the temperature drops below a certain level. We can also provide partition walls in most of our range so if some of your plants require certain heat conditions you can keep two areas in the greenhouse at different temperatures. Lots of plants like alpines do not mind the cold but just don’t like being constantly wet through our long wet winters. So the answer to the question “do you heat or not heat your greenhouse?” is all down to personal preference and depends on the type of plants you like to grow. #mygabrielash

This one was taken earlier in the year when the greenhouse was almost complete! Back then I had no idea how I was going to arrange the space, where I would put benches, what I would grow and how things would basically work! Nine months on and somehow it’s all come together and evolved into a space where curious chickens peck, green friends quietly grow, seeds germinate, hooks are carefully carved and visitors chat and absorb the relaxed vibe this space commands. So grateful for this rustic shed that although has no electricity, is somehow charged with the most incredible energy🌿 Happy weekend friends✌🏼X . . #momentsofmelancholy #ofsimplethings #chickensofinstagram #momentsofmine #feelfreefeed #inspiremyinstagram

STOP ✋⁣ 🌿⁣ Life gets busy (we all know it does) and these days it seems to pass by so fast. But sometimes you need to just stand still, only for a moment, to appreciate what’s around you. Because it's these moments, right now, that will just be memories real soon. ⁣ 🌿⁣ So go on, wave to your neighbour, exchange a smile with the postman, reconnect with an old friend and tell that special someone you love them.⁣ 🌿⁣ #greenhomes #greenhomesaustralia #futureproof #sustainability #sustainable #sustainableliving #gogreen #australia #eco #savetheplanet #environment #sustainablegardening #growsomethinggreen #greenfingers
