You’ve probably heard a lot lately about conventionally-grown lettuce recalls. We have, too, which is why we take biosecurity seriously. Very seriously. What is biosecurity, you ask? It is a catch-all term for everything that’s done to keep diseases and the pathogens (i.e., viruses, bacteria, funguses, etc.) away from our leafy greens.
Here at Traders Hill Farm, we’re a bit Type A when it comes to biosecurity. We have almost 10 employees trained in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) - even though we’re only required to have two. HAACP is a preventative approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe.
