I was powerfully influenced by @skinbystarr among many others to try out @fourthraybeauty. if you didn't know, FRB is a sister brand of one of my absolute fav makeup companies, @colourpopcosmetics , so I came in w/ pretty high expectations (moral of the story: don't be TOO good at something, because then you can never disappoint me again). here are my thoughts after having used these products a couple times: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ BFD cleansing oil ($14) - this was the first thing I wanted to try. a lot of youtubers seem to love it (does this really mean anything anymore?) & I'd read a lot of great reviews. I typically use balms more than oils, but I really enjoy this. of the cleansing oils I've tried, this is one of the best at emulsifying w/ water & not leaving behind an oily film or feel. I still prefer a balm for heavy-duty makeup removal so I can use my makeup wipe technique, but for days when I'm just wearing SPF or very light makeup, this is wonderful.
✨ matcha face milk ($10) - listen...if something has "matcha" & "milk" in the name & comes in a tiny glass dropper bottle I’m gonna buy it. I yam who I yam. this is marketed as a "lightweight moisture booster", & I think is still a little too much hydration for me in the AM, but makes a really soothing, light layer for my evening routine. I think it'll work well in the PM in summer, when I don't need anything too heavy-duty, but still wanna be plump. it’s a bit tacky unless you give it ample drydown time.
✨ later hater spot treatment ($12) - had I actually used my brain & read the description, I likely wouldn't have purchased this as I don't have much luck w/ similar treatments (think kate somerville eradikate & mario badescu drying lotion). this is the cheapest sulfur treatment I've found, so if those work for you, this might be a good affordable alternative. for me, the FRB works just as well as, if not marginally better than, the others in drying out my emerging & active breakouts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
all things considered, I'm really impressed w/ the formulas, presentation, & price point of the brand. I'm for sure looking to add more from FRB to my collection.
