Just being honest here in saying that I have been really struggling lately.. I don't know how it's easier to write this in an Instagram post rather than actually talk to people in person about my feelings.. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have had one of the toughest weeks ever and my anxiety is definitely back in full swing. I am finding it extremely hard to balance my schooling, work, the gym, social media, my relationship and my friendships all at once. I haven't cried this much in such a LONG time and I feel like I'm almost hitting rock bottom like I did back in 2015 (worst year of my life). My point of this, and something I'm trying to work on is to find those small things that make you HAPPY & GRATEFUL. I'm not someone who can sit and meditate, I can never shut my mind off and I feel like I have to be doing something 24/7. My goal for the next little while is to take up baking again, read a good book and write up what I'm grateful for. This is my equivalent to meditation. If you have read this far, please let me know what you do to bring yourself back down and relax. And remember that what you see on Instagram truly is just a "highlight" reel of someone's life. If you are ever struggling, please know that I am always here with open arms 💕

Or don't...whatever. The other day I noticed a young guy at the gym that seemed new to working out. I was watching him workout and he seemed lost as to what to do and kind of defeated. It was not too long ago that I was in the same position. Picture 1: AUG 2015 - 180lbs I'd been lifting for a couple years but extremely inconsistent...maybe 2 or 3 days a week, never training legs, low intensity, little to no compound movements, no idea of nutrition, supplementation, etc. I can remember looking at the bigger, stronger guys thinking "I could NEVER get to where they are!". Picture 2: FEB 2018 - 200lbs I've just recently realized I'm as big and strong as most of those guys I used to hold out of reach! (Different gym...no one needs to feel threatened, lol). I fell in love with seeing progress, became more consistent, increased my effort and I'm better for it. The point of this post is if you're just starting or even have been doing this a while off and on, keep going! Effort + consistency x time = RESULTS. I know it sounds cliche, but it's true; I know it first hand. If I see him again, I'm going to introduce myself and see what I can do to help him out, even if it's just encouragement. Can you remember how discouraged you were when you started your journey? Tag someone that’s new to this!

Sutra Saturday Chapter 1, Verse 6 pramāṇa viparyaya vikalpa nidrā smṛtayaḥ “[These five vṛttis (mental habits) are] 1) evidence of your senses, 2) misperception, 3) imagination, 4) deep sleep, and 5) memories.” Altogether, these five states of mind represent what Yoga theory considers all the things the mind can do. So think of anything you can do with your mind and it will fit into one of these five categories. Basically you can either; be aware of what is actually in front of you, mistake what is in front of you, imagine or fantasize something (there is a difference), be unconscious, or remember something. Some mental activities overlap categories. Dreaming, for example, combines numbers 2, 3, and 5. Remembering something incorrectly, combines 3 and 5. Here, Patañjali is introducing very importantly, how you think about the world, which is different from what you think about. Since overcoming the mind’s influence is the goal of yoga, Patañjali is introducing us to the different ways in which the mind works. The hardest part about trying to add on lean muscle size...is also adding the wrong kind of size...fat! Coming in at 185lbs... See, unlike others who are trying to shed the weight, I'm taking this time to try and add some size to my frame (lean bulking) but keeping body fat as low as I can instead of just straight gaining weight (dirty bulking) . The problem is, I'm going to have to add some fat if I want to add on muscle. But then I do suffer from fat man complex often where I see my old self again in gaining weight back. That mental battle is pretty damn real and no matter how confident I am at losing weight it still creeps on me. Social media doesnt help either when all guys do is post when they're shredded or juiced etc. . Shoot I'm a dad and overtime worker trying to build a solid and healthy body while in all the chaos we call life. I'll just do my best to take it one day at a time, stick to the main plan and just not focus on thickness or scale of things...wont be easy but I'm a try my best. Plus when I shed the weight im sure im be happy with the consistent efforts and hard work. . Often times someone’s biggest strength is also their weakness. One of mine is emotion & passion. Having so much passion for success DRIVES me to far exceed expectation. Its what causes me to pop up at 5 am everyday (including weekends) and get to f***ing work. This same type of emotion is also my biggest default & allows me to get in my head creating problems that don’t even exist. For 2019, I’m really working hard to master controlling my mind. After a string of nine squat sessions in eighteen days with the ninth last Tuesday, my right glute medius and quadratus laborum were screaming at me so I took four days off. I know i push the limit with my leg training but it feeds my soul..My knees, on the other hand, are fine. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone 💕 - let’s do a throwback because I have to keep myself distracted lol my eyes can’t be looking at the road ( I’m currently going on an adventure) my husband driving gets me car sick 😷 the way he drive is like being on a movie from fast and furious 😂 - anyway can’t believe that I’ve been on this fitness journey for two years now, & it’s been a roller coaster ride. 😩 also it’s going to be a year since I got my tummy tuck , & I’m so glad that I have managed to keep my weight stable . I think that’s one of hardest because I’m lifting weights & the first thing on my mind is “oh I’m going to gain weight “ but surprisingly I haven’t which is good I guess. 🤷🏽‍♀️ - I remember back than I would have in my closet is just black clothing to hide the way I look .
