⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Day 5️⃣ of #AloAboutTheWall is Shoulders... strengthen or stretch!. ⁣⠀⁣ #Puppypose is my go-to for opening up shoulders. Doing this at the wall in a #MeltingHeartPose is a great alternative to a puppy pose on the mat as you can control the intensity a little better and let gravity take over. Some days I set up closer in so that my armpits & chest touch the wall (lengthening & lifting to create more space in your vertebrae!)... other days I walk my feet further back so that I’m in more of a 90 degree angle for a more gentle shoulder stretch. In either yummy variation, I personally like to to keep my hips over my feet because I like to get my lower back AND hamstrings in on the party too! ⁣⠀⁣ Be sure to check out my cohosts for what they’re doing today. Another amazing morning for a run. Ended with 32 miles this week. Feeling good about this number because it’s been a few months since I’ve gone this distance. 🇩🇪🇬🇧Ein Grillabend und 2 kg mehr später, dachte ich, Restday geht heute wirklich nicht 🤣. Früher war das für mich ein Grund schlechte Laune zu haben, heute lasse ich mich nicht mehr beirren. Habe aber meinem Körper Bescheid gesagt, dass ich nicht in der #Massephase bin und er darf das gerne schnell wieder abgeben. Hat da was falsch verstanden. #mindsetkannich 😂. So gab es heute etwas Quälprogramm für meine Problemzonen..U.a. Liegestütze, Diamond Push Ups, Dips am Rack, Burpees... Widerlich, wer hat diese Übungen nur erfunden 🤣? 3x Krafttraining sind immer fest geplant, der vierte, den ich nur nach Bedarf mache, also keinen Restday brauche, gestalte ich immer etwas freier. Pushups, Diamond Push Ups, Dips on the Rack, Burpees ... Disgusting, who invented these exercises 🤣? 3x weight training is always planned, the fourth, which I only do on demand, so no restday need, I always make something more free. Getting stronger every day and not losing the fun is my goal😍. I will, I can, I can do it!

👋🏻👋🏻 Just checking in to say I’m still here, I appreciate everyone’s check ins and concern. I’m still doing me and working out, running when I can (my knee is...eh) and I even ran a sweet little race yesterday. I’m just in a place that I want to do things silently for a minute. Being totally real and personal...I’m battling life right now and it’s knocked the wind right out of me. I’ll be back from this stronger than ever, THIS I KNOW, and better than I was yesterday. But sometimes we all just need to sorta check out with the world and check in with ourselves for awhile..and that’s what I’m doing. I love this community and the support and friendships I’ve gained...which is why I could never walk away from it. But just taking a little break. Well, it was almost a good week of running, until Saturday came. My ankle was hurting so I skipped my run, which was a real bummer. As I type this I’m feeling much better, so that’s good! . This morning was the end of week 2 for the #richmondhalfmarathon @sportsbackers training. 6 mile-long run & the weather was amazing! Cool with a light breeze, & running on a Sunday morning the roads were super empty. Fell into my stride after mile 3, but loved every minute! No running buddy & no action shots this morning, just the haul to get my ass out the door & the post-run coffee on my deck. I realized that last week was my 6 year anniversary of being in RVA - now the longest I've lived in one place since I was 18. It's a brave new world! This was a great week, I learned a lot! Smaller changes will lead to bigger results in the end. Some days I focused just on drinking more water, some days trying a new veggie recipe, other days working out hard. I accidently weighed myself on Friday, I wasn't going to, but its a habit I now want to break. When I saw the number was down 4, I almost didnt believe it because I've worked harder on weightloss in weeks past only to see that number go up or remain the same. Im starting Sunday with zero guilt that I celebrated a friend's birthday last night, because it was cheat day and not cheat weekend. The landmine press is a great way to train your shoulders if regular dumbbell or barbell pressing irritates them. Or you can use it as a change up from your regular overhead pressing. Get down in a kneeling position (or a standing position, I’ll show that later) and pick up the bar. Get it into position and press it up. Keep your core tight and extend so you get a full range of motion. As you progress, you can add weight to make it more challenging. You can do it standing as the variation here. You can also use two hands on the bar rather than just one. You can do 2-3 sets of 6-12 reps using a weight that’s appropriate. Not so light that it’s too easy, and not so heavy that you can’t hit your target number of reps. Once or twice a week is plenty.

Sitting still in a quiet house this morning. Our lives are full and we often move from one thing to another. ⁣ This week I felt the Lord’s gentle revelation of how often I tell one particular child, to “hurry” or “get moving” and it made me stop and evaluate how those words set a pace in our life. ⁣ ⁣ This morning I am taking purposeful rest, giving my mind, my body and my heart moments to be still, to be unhurried, to recover and to ultimately reset for the week ahead. Only when we work and live from a place of rest are we able to keep moving towards all the things the Lord is calling us to, to lead and to love well. ⁣ ⁣ For years, I thought rest was sign of weakness, not I realize that sabbath is a rhythm of life that allows us to see more clearly, to be restored and to sink deeper into His roots so we can grow. ⁣ ⁣ What does REST look like for you? And food prep for week 8 finished. 💪 In other news I heard from the boy both Friday night and last night and he sounds so happy. He’s enjoying campus life already and he is settling into his new surroundings. I feel I can relax a little... just a little. He’s off to his new adventure and I can continue on mine with no further distractions. First posing session today and weigh in tomorrow.
