Shorter HIIT Intervals vs. Longer Ones I’ve been slacking on getting my #hiitworkouts in on the treadmill. So I changed the interval by making them shorter. Cool thing is that I can perform more sprints now before performance suffers, without spending more time performing #hiit. My workouts are also more dense, which is great for fatloss and conditioning. I can get in 30 sprints in 10 minutes, at a higher intensity, where I could only get in 20 before. I found this 8/12 work to rest ratio a few years ago when I was studying HIIT & fatloss in grad school. The original test subjects were athletes instead of untrained or recreational exercisers. It showed that they subject also experienced reductions in abdominal fat. I tried it out with my clients, and it hasn’t failed me yet, when they also took care of their nutrition program. Asparagus-Stuffed Chicken 😋 Eat or Pass? 😍 . 3 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts (about 1 1/2 pounds ) To taste Kosher Salt To taste Ground Black Pepper 1 Tablespoon Lemon Zest (Zest of 1 Lemon) 9-12 stalks Fresh Asparagus (depends on how large the stalks of asparagus are) 3/4 Cup Shredded Provolone Cheese (Can substitute with sliced provolone ( 3-6 slices depending on thickness) ) 1 1/2 Teaspoons Paprika (Can substitute with smoked paprika) 1 Tablespoon Chopped Fresh Rosemary (Can substitute with 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary) 1 Tablespoon Chopped Fresh Thyme (Can substitute with 1 teaspoon of dried thyme) 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter 3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice (Optional) (juice of 1 lemon) Directions Preheat oven to 400F/200C Butterfly the chicken breast in half, length-wise, leaving it intact on one side to create a pocket for stuffing. Season the inside of the chicken breast with salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Add 3-4 stalks of asparagus and the provolone cheese in the center of each chicken breast and fold over, to enclose the filling. Season the outside of the chicken breast with salt, pepper, paprika, and herbs. Rub the seasoning into the chicken breast and set aside. Heat a large, oven safe pan over medium heat and add the butter. Once hot, sear the chicken until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Cover the pan with foil, place in the oven, and bake until the chicken is cooked through, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow rest for about a few minutes before serving. Sometimes you just gotta go to failure. I wasn’t able to take a video today at the gym ,but another Monday, comes another killer chest day. I’ve been training chest harder than any other muscle group over the past 2 years, and the results have payed off. . I used to always feel self conscious, telling myself I had “Man Tits”. Frustrated, I dedicated the majority of my time in the gym to training my chest. Little did I know, it was my weak back that was the root cause of my bad posture and pecs I did not care for . . Now I dedicate my Tuesday’s to hitting back and shoulders. By targeting back/shoulders the day after chest you are able to pull your pectoral muscles up giving you the toned pecs you’ve always wanted. You will notice that as soon as you begin training your back other lifts such as you bench will improve as well. . . . Today I set my new PR on bench and I could be happier. Day 1 of week 1 and this is what I’m calling my official staring weight 👆🏻. . Obviously I ate a little extra yesterday considering how strict I’m going to be for the next 12 weeks, BUT, this was my weight after my HIIT cardio this morning. 115.8!!!!! . . Insane. Back in October, I was at 107. On day one of my first competition in 2012, I weighed in at 111.0. I am super pumped to be starting almost 5 full pounds heavier. 💪🏻💪🏻 . . Chest day with the BIG MAN HIMSELF. Like I said in one of my previous posts, master and protege😉 prime example of how it is!! The first video is my second attempt trying 315 ever, the first time I was able to put it up (that was when I posted my first video on this page) but I wasn’t able to hit it today. On the positive side, my brother was able to hit 315 for not one but TWO reps!! (You can see me hyped when he went down for the second hahaha) The last two videos are of us repping 100lb dumbbells for some incline, i tried 105, but it just wasn’t the day for it!! Whenever we hit a workout together you know for damn sure it’s going to be a good one. Huge shout for my brother @leodsuarez97 for hitting this DOPE PR!! Hella motivated by him and nothing but love for this man!! And also, yes failure sometimes sucks but when one fails, it motivates you to push more and persevere to reach the goals you want!! anyone else ever feel unmotivated? - lately I’ve been feeling kinda unmotivated, almost stuck.. my routine is the same every single week, with class, the gym, and work. I want to mix things up but I’m not sure how! I want to try new things, explore new types of exercise, maybe do more yoga or try a spin class! - I actually signed up for a new gym, Boston Sports Club, but haven’t fully decided if I’m gonna stay there or not (I’m still in the 10-day money back trial period) so maybe this will be what I need to get me out of this rut. any tips or suggestions for some new inspiration would be much appreciated tho!!

After a workout, I love to make a protein smoothie with lots of berries and almond milk 💕 it my go to and is quick and easy !! 1 scoop of @myproteinwomen vanilla whey protein. Handful of frozen mix berries (any frozen fruit you have!!!) 1 small banana 1 teaspoon of chia seed Almond milk. I don’t count calories and don’t measure my food. I also don’t weigh myself and I feel so free. I was somebody who was obsessed counting calories and I use to weigh myself three times a day so going from counting and measure to not doing it was haunting at first but I’m so glad that I have done it 💕 if you are somebody who is EXCESSIVELY counting and worrying when you go over, you need to ask yourself if this is the best thing for you mentally ! 💜

We all know that rest days are super important for our muscles but our central nervous system needs them too. And since the brain is a part of the central nervous system, we can get weaker when our brain isn't well rested. So what can we do to avoid CNS Fatigue? 💪🏼 Enough rest between workouts 💪🏼Try to limit stress. Take time for yourself. 💪🏼 Get enough sleep Don't get frustrated when you're feeling weak. It might just be a stressful time for you and your body. Don't be too hard on yourself.

GAINS, NUTRITION, & LIFE . . Staying on point with your nutrition to make health and fitness gains is super hard. Meal prepping helps but is time consuming so it's easy to be tempted by quick processed food options. . ▶️PROCESSED FOODS were associated in a new study with an increased risk of ☠️death☠️ even when controlling for nutritional quality and people's activity level, income, BMI, and education. The most processed foods are generally frozen foods/meals, snacks, and desserts. . We don't quite know why processed foods are bad for us, but more and more research suggests that they are. The overall effect size in this study was pretty small (hazard ratio 1.14 with 1.4% cohort mortality over 7 years). Until we know more about what's going in our food and how it affects us, it's best to stick to whole foods as much as you can. . I'll admit I eat processed food sometimes, but I try to keep it low. It’s been awhile since I’ve shared one of my recipes, so here you go! I made a batch of these Protein packed Banana & Blackberry pancakes this morning, and they were gone fast 😳 Not only are they delicious, but they’re super healthy too! Check out the recipe below and let me know what you think In a food processor blend *5 bananas *4 Eggs *2 Scoops of protein powder (Vanilla or non-flavored) Mine totaled 40 grams for the whole batch *1/4 tsp salt * 1/2 tsp cinnamon * 1/4 tsp baking-soda * 1/2 tsp Vanilla * 1 Tbs flour (almond, coconut, etc..) Blend well Pour in a pan over medium low heat. These only need about 1-2 minutes per side Next add in a handful of blackberries and blend just a few seconds Side note: If you don’t have a food processor you can hand mash the bananas and whisk all other ingredients. Also chop the blackberries and throw in at the end. . Are you effectively hitting your shoulders with the dumbbell shoulder press? The most common mistake on these is using a shortened range of motion. The lockout uses mostly triceps. Your shoulders are more engaged at the bottom half of the rep. If you’re stopping at parallel, you’re not fully stimulating your shoulders. While I wouldn’t say hitting the dumbbells together at the top is necessarily incorrect, it’s definitely not helpful. When the dumbbells bounce off of each other, your set will be thrown off a little. Set 1, 3, 4 at 67.5kg. . Supposed to do 3 sets but I fucked up the 3rd starting too close to the rack. Unfortunately, as my brain is so busy beating me up at the moment it definitely distracted me on my 4th attempt... but positive note. I still got it up, maybe a PB on the horizon🤷🏼‍♀️ . But prior to fucking up, it moved damn fast 👌🏼 . LOVING @supertraininguk and the facilities.
