#motivationmonday - lately I’ve been super-setting my chest workouts to create flatter look or width. This particular workout I wanted to target my upper chest with the expansion of my middle chest by incorporating push-ups. The idea is to go heavier with the dumbbells; And higher reps with the push-ups for a deep burn. Week 5 of @transform_20 with @shaunt is complete and week 6 began today! I'm really emotional about finishing this program as I've NEVER stuck with a workout program this long before, let alone to completion! ⚓ I was going to take a week off before starring a second round but I think I'm going to jump right on in to it next week! Fall in Love with taking care of yourself. Mind. Body. Spirit. I was 12 months postpartum. 9 months into a strict plant based diet. . I post a lot about my work and mom world but NEVER about fitness. I have asthma and I'm a runner. It's frustrating at times but I work through the attacks and I constantly compete with myself for speed and distance. Its hard but worth the reward. And to be honest, I probably wouldn't do it without my husband's motivation. . Most mornings he gets up at 3 a.m. and trains. So I can at least get my butt to the gym 2x per week yeah? Cary @try_dad_tri just began training for his third triathlon. I'll never get there because I don't have that desire. 12 Weeks⁣ —⁣ I recently had the opportunity to view a “Network of Executive Women” webinar that my work offered. The presenter was a full-time working mom and spoke about expectations. ⁣ —⁣ She clicked to a slide that showed her laptop with a post-it note that said “I Expect This to Be Difficult”. I love this. This concept and message can be applied to many things. ⁣ —⁣ Don’t expect perfection. ⁣ Don’t expect it to be simple.⁣ —⁣ Expect there to be difficulties. Expect it to challenge you. Expect it to try you at times. Expect the unexpected (lol jk). The point is, be real with yourself. Sit with your feelings. Honor them. And move forward. ⁣ —⁣ I have “slipped up” and “fallen off track” quite a few times the past 3 months. 🖤 It’s not about the trophy, the placing or the prize. It’s about setting goals and smashing them! It’s about the dedication, discipline, willpower. Finding a strength inside i never knew existed. It’s about structure, putting the hard work in and following the plan. Its about watching your body transform in ways you didn’t think were possible. It’s about proving to myself that I will beat my former “best”. Some days are hard and I question myself yes, but it’s on those days, after those workout and long cardio sessions that I feel so proud of myself & the reward is only weeks away! When show day comes it’s worth all the fish, chicken & broccoli! It’s worth the hours of meal prep, the sore legs & having too pee all the fucking time! All the cardio I didn’t think I’d be able to finish. It’s those couple minutes on stage that make me realize why I do this, why I love this sport and why I’m going to continue to work my ass off to one day surprise myself with how far I’ve made it!!🖤
