Mind muscle connection . 🧠 If your goal is to improve your physique and for bodybuilding/ aesthetic purposes then you need to develop a strong mind muscle connection. . ⛹🏼‍♂️Movement is controlled by the brain. The more you can improve the communication between your brain and the target muscle, the more muscle fibres you will recruit. The result? a better quality in muscle contraction and a better workout! . ❌Poor mind muscle connection is possibly the biggest mistake of the average gym goer out there. You can go into any gym and i guarantee you are going to see someone in there at some point, lifting weights which are too heavy for them with terrible form. The most common? The bicep curl or the tricep pushdowns. Shoulders moving around all over the place, leaning back and swinging, taking complete emphasis away from the muscle that they are trying to work. Very poor mind muscle connection! . 🎯Muscles don’t grow because your moving weight up and down, they grow because they are forced to contract by acting on that weight. The tension is derived from the equipment that you are using. Whether that be free weights, cables or machines. Concentrate on the muscle you are trying to target and squeeze it. If you maximise the force placed on your target muscle you will maximise your gains, and thats what it’s all about, not maximising the weight your moving from A to B, that is secondary (unless you are a powerlifter/ strongman). . 🗒 If you want to make better gains, then focus on developing this. Here are a few pointers to achieve that: 1️⃣ Don’t ego lift - Think less about weight and more about the quality of the reps. 2️⃣Warm it up and practice - Do a few warm ups at a light weight and really focus on contracting every damn fibre possible in that exercise. 3️⃣Slow it down - Lower weight, slower movement, increase the time the muscle is under tension. . ❓Got a lagging body part? I bet you have a very poor mind muscle connection with that muscle. You've got to train hard but you've also got to train smart! . 7 months now of hard work. A couple setbacks, a couple of times of not going when I should have. So far I am proud, starting out with zero muscle definition I have come a long way in a short time. As of last night I was 159#, I finally benched 190# only once but I did it and kept my butt planted! 300# 5x's on deadlift, 550# leg press, 60# dumbell press, 60# French press...the numbers continue to go up. There is something that's just absolutely terrifying of making myself let go of the bar. Maybe it's the fact that if I miss I can fall (not far), or maybe it's the fact that I don't want people to see me miss the bar. Whatever that fear is it is debilitating and it literally makes my heart race. I start to freak out a little bit and I constantly go back and forth in my mind about whether I can do it or not. I've been trying to get back into these for MONTHS now and I can never get myself to let go of the bar and jump down. I get scared and I start to freeze and second guess myself. Fear is real and it can make you doubt yourself and it can stop you from doing things you want to do. But don't let it stop you! Push past that fear, get out of your comfort zone. LET THE BAR GO!! You got this and it will feel soooo good once you accomplish your goal. I have been short on time lately so I have been doing giant sets this week. I combined smith machine shoulder press, Plate front raises, dumbell front raises and lateral raises for 5 Sets of 20 and took a 60 sec break and repeated. I got a crazy pump super quick. If you see the tall gentleman at our gym just know that he has made incredible progress since March 2019. Diego has dropped an incredible 53lbs and we could not be lore proud. If you ask him, I’m sure he will say it wasn’t easy. The hardest thing to retrain is your 🧠 BRAIN. Your body I capable of incredible things but do reach those goals, you have to retrain your body how to eat, sleep, workout, and stay active. You probably see Diego going from Zumba classes with @kphoenix_getsfit , to Circuit training and cardo Boxing with @da_coach_arnie then possibly weightlifting on the weekends also! Got tagged to fill in for TRX for Fun Friday at Camp Rhino. We played a little high stakes Jenga. The stakes? If your team knocks it over, you get to do 50 burpees. Sadly, these guys obviously play in competitive Jenga leagues so no burpees were enforced. 🙁🤷‍♀️ They DID get to combine their favorite animals to make sweet team names, roll the dice to see how many reps/laps they "got" to do, and learn a little bit about each other by answering questions/completing dares written on the Jenga pieces.
