‼️ ACL injury risk reduction program for the female youth athlete 🎯 . Here are some 🔑 gym-based exercises that I believe are essential in reducing the risk of ACL injuries in female youth athletes: . 1. Landings: landing exercises that involve high vertical forces at ground contact can help train the athlete to actively bend at the hips, knees, and ankles to lower peak landing forces as well as increase stability by lowering centre of mass. . 2. Forward hops / stick: during more horizontal focused movements such as decelerating or cutting, the hamstrings are typically activated before initial ground contact. This strategy provides a counterbalancing force reducing anterior tibial translation and stress on the ACL. Horizontally orientated plyometric exercises such two or single leg hops are a great tool to train increased activation of the hamstring muscles before and during landing or cutting activities. . 3. Squats: I like to use a variety of squats with youths, especially eccentric emphasis squats and single leg squats. Eccentric squats allow the athlete to gain mobility, stability and strength during actions that are relevant to landing. Single leg exercises such as squats and calf raises allow the athlete to balance and control force on one leg, especially important when many landings occur on one leg. . 4. Isometric hamstring bridges: build foundational strength to tolerate high and rapid forces through this muscle group as youth athletes get stronger. There are many progressions to this exercise and, in time, exercises that train eccentric strength and rate of force development in the muscle group are added. . It should be noted that IMO such injury prevention programs should be used in conjunction with movement skill-based speed and agility programs such as those provided by @academyofsportspeed and can and should be performed year-round.

Biceps and triceps today and here is a couple triple sets that I love to keep that heart rate up while lifting and hit those arms hard so I thought I would share! 😍💪🏻 I purposely don’t lower the EZ curl bar all the way down to maintain the tension on the bicep muscles as I push elbows back while keeping arms close to your body in that lift- just a different type of curl that I really like and they are already pre-exhausted by doing DB curls right before as you can see!!
