Living in Utah is a love-hate relationship for me. My love comes from the fact that my ENTIRE family is within a 20-minute radius. My hate comes from WINTER. ⁣ ⁣ My parents didn’t teach me winter sports and they hibernate when it’s cold. I grew up doing much of the same. Learning to ski or snowboard as an adult is terrifying. Turns out, you’re so much more aware of the likelihood of injury as an adult than as a child. So middle-ground for me has been snowshoeing. ⁣ ⁣ If you’re in a similar winter wonderland and aren’t obsessed with outdoor sports, I recommend snowshoeing for a few reasons.⁣ 1. You can find canyon with trails to snowshoe on for free or a few bucks.⁣ 2. Snowshoes themselves are a decent deal ($50-$200.)⁣ 3. Kids can easily pick it up, too!4. If you’ve got tiny kiddos, you can carry them in a backpack carrier (we found ours on the Facebook Marketplace for $50.)⁣ 5. You get workout. My heart is always beating out of my chest!⁣ 6. You get Vitamin D (which I’m always low on) and fresh air in the middle of winter.⁣ 7. It’s good bonding time with friends and family. It’s not terribly hard to carry a conversation while stomping up snowy hills.

10WBT - Day 38/70 . Keeping it real. Post workout beetroot face sweaty selfie with duckface included! 🦆🤣 . Today was a struggle. Motivation was low and I was sooooo tempted not to do my scheduled exercise (yes even this personal trainer has ‘those’ days!). . But knowing I had a client/friend booked in for a walk made all the difference and it helped to keep me accountable. . At the start of my current 10WBT program I made a promise to myself to dig deep and to not give up... even on ‘those’ kind of days. Today I had to dig deep... and it was so worth it. Not only did it get my headspace back on track, but I feel ready to take on the day. . Just remember ladies, you get what you work for. It’s all very well and good to say “I wish I could lose weight” or “I wish I had your motivation to exercise”. . But we need to remember that wishing doesn’t bring us closer to what we want. When you work towards your goals, that’s when you have the power to achieve real things! I remember when I decided to leave nursing and everyone looked at me like I had 7 heads. Are you sure you want to fo that? They said. To become a COACH?! They said. That stuff doesn’t work, its a scam! They said. That just made my anxiety worse. I questioned it all and to be honest I hesitated for far too long, doubted and was worried, and stayed in it longer than I should have because I was so afraid. If I tell you what finally made me take that leap of faith you will prob laugh. I wanted to enroll Allie in soccer and between flying and my nursing job I never had the time. It struck me that what I wanted most out of life wasn’t more money but to be present for my girls. I wanted to be in their lives, I wanted to get them into sports, and I wanted so badly for them to have the childhood I never had. It was that simple. I think if it had been about me I prob would have listened to the nay sayers, but because it was something for my family I was willing to take that incredibly scary leap of faith. And yeah I bring my laptop to tennis and continue to build my business with no regrets and no shame. It’s thanks for this “scam” that I have been able to give my girls the life I dreamed for them so I will continue to build it and help other mamas do the same. Never apologize for having a vision for your life that differs from the status quo. Be honest and truthful to yourself first. If it doesn’t align with what you want, don’t keep selling yourself short. There is beauty in living a life that is in alignment to your calling. Mine is to empower women and help them believe in their potential and that starts at home with my girls. Changes in life sucks! As I have said before, I have really struggled these past six months since becoming a single mom to three kids, moving to a new state for my job, and working full time 12+ hrs a day. My nutrition took a huge toll and I gained back weight I never intended to. But I refuse to give up on my goals! Bodpod assessments have kept me accountable and definitely shows that resistance training works! Most think the best way to lose weight/fat is cardio. But resistance training is key! My first bodpod assessment in May I was 135 and 27% body fat! I am now 141 and 23%! I am no where near where I need to be but it just shows that a combination of cardio/resistance is key to losing the fat. It’s not about the numbers on the scale. It’s losing the excess fat and gaining muscle to live a healthy life. I have 3 amazing kids counting on me. 3️⃣Amigos 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 🔥First move is something to spice up your workout and make it challenging... add resistance bands. I know some people might think what the heck is a band going to do?!... Well, it will maximize your training, say for instance you are doing a bicep curl.. the hardest part for most free weight exercises (including the bicep curl) are in the first half of the movement and then gets easier. Resistance bands get harder as you go. With a band you will get constant tension and you will be able to get a peak contraction. The whole range of motion will be challenging!!! Day 1 of my leg focused split to get you HUGE legs fast: the workout routine is posted on the second picture if you swipe, or if you go see the last post on my profile you’ll see it there! You’ll be doing legs 3x a week, with each day being slightly different and targeting different muscles in the legs. ———————————————— The leg workouts are not too long and should not take more than an hour to complete. The first exercise of the day is back squat for 6 reps, and here is where you want to really go heavy and work on progressive overload throughout the weeks. I’d suggest resting about 3 minutes for the squats since you wanna go as heavy as possible, and just 90-120 seconds on the remaining exercises. ———————————————— You’ll be hitting calves 3x a week for 6 sets each day (from all different angles). The main focus here is going heavy and pushing yourself on the back squats. If you’re a beginner you should be increasing in weight (5-10 lbs) every week, seeing some really great leg strength come in rather quickly. As usual, don’t push yourself to a dangerous limit to where you might injure yourself, but work on progressive overload to a safe limit. I’d recommend starting at about 75% of your 1 rep max.

How often do you check in with yourself to see what you need to recharge your mind, body, and soul? Then allow yourself to have blank space in your schedule to do those things that you know you need to do or you’ve been daydreaming about? Our body will give us little warning signals that we need to slow down or recharge, but too often we get on autopilot and don’t slow down or we aren’t present enough to listen until our body starts screaming at us or it will just shuts DOWN.
