This week I decided it was time to change up my workouts & style of training 鈥 thanks to the @the.healthcode podcast. _ It鈥檚 amazing how quickly our bodies a d a p t to what we are doing & so it鈥檚 good to adjust our workouts every now & again. This also keeps your workouts FUN & challenging! _ I generally go to gym & do the same movements in each session, the same leg day, the same arm workout, the same running route... so for the last week I鈥檝e been incorporating some d i f f e r e n t movements into my routine as well as tried to change my style of training & I鈥檝e been LOVING IT, it has ignited a NEW motivation! _ This weeks Leg Day I added some new single leg exercises. I tried single leg box jumps for the first time! 馃敟 (they were tricky!) Failure builds character.鈥 sometimes all you need is a little inspiration. the partners I have in the gym they all really challenge me to make sure I鈥檓 putting that 110% effort in so really maximize results. this journey is far from over~ we are still just getting started 馃榿 this week so far I have been really feeling stronger in the gym!馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔 this workout posted I worked my way up from 3 plates(10reps) all the way to 9 plates(couldn鈥檛 fit anymore of this machine馃槄 and did it for I believe 7reps, along with a one of many shoulder workouts(this one is by far a favorite鈥ive it a whirl) and also added on some 75lb dumbbell shrugs, I finished my workout with a mile run as I鈥檓 really going to start stepping it up to cut down on the body fat!! #knowledgethursday - If you鈥檙e wondering why you are experiencing pain on different parts of your body for sitting too long, here鈥檚 some information we discovered and would like to share with you guys 馃槉 What happens to your body if you鈥檙e sitting too long or having a sedentary lifestyle? Sitting for extended periods affects every body system, starting with our muscles. When sitting at your desk at work or over a phone, we all naturally lean forward towards the screen, straining our necks. "When you sit all day, your hip flexors and hamstrings shorten and tighten, while the muscles that support your spine become weak and stiff," 鈥 (Doughlas Lentz) Not only your muscle is affected, your heart and brain are affected as well! Heart 鈥 The longer we sit, the fewer calories our bodies burn. Because we're not using our muscles, our heart does not have to pump as hard or fast, allowing fatty acids to build up and more easily clog the heart. In fact, people who are very sedentary or sit most of the day are twice as likely to have heart disease than those who are active throughout the day. Brain - When we move our muscles, our heart pumps fresh, oxygenated blood to the brain. Sitting for an extended period of time slows down all of our body's functions, including brain function. Here's a few simple tips to fix this. Spare at least 2-5 mins of your time to either walk around your office every hour or walk over to your colleague's desk, chit-chat or gossip maybe? 馃槅 Try to take the stairs instead of elevators or escalators and walk if the distance is walk-able 馃槈 Or of course, hit the gym, swim, go for a jog, keep yourself moving! On my way home, I told myself that I should take a bath and hit the sacks - was really mighty stressed at work that I could not wait for my pillows to wrap me up. Yet amazingly, my mind took me elsewhere - got turned on seeing my running shoes. And so I went on to changing into my exercise outfit (flaming red can you imagine), and out I ran for 40 mins. Feels great actually.
