Thanksliving-Eve Announcements: [ #1 ] Winter squash are delicious. Heirloom pumpkins (which generally have relatively thin walls and large seed cavities) are excellent stuffed and slowly roasted. Butternut squash peeled, thinly sliced to create crevices to fill with herbs, and then roasted are also fantastic (to find recipes for this, search “Hasselback Squash”). [ #2 ] We were fortunate to have good harvests this year. If you or someone you know is in the area and in a pinch, we would be happy to share some of the bounty - everything from pumpkins to potatoes to frozen celery. You can reach us here or at arborfarmstead @gmail.com. In the meantime, I’ll be here anticipating the Giant Pumpkin... . . . #grandislevt #vermont #farmstead #heirloom #pumpkins #wintersquash #homegrown #thanksliving #veganic #vegansofig
My beautiful boy Mario. He’s a Salmon Faverolles rooster and he’s the sweetest little boy. His colors are amazing and get better by the day. He finally let me take a good picture of him although he doesn’t quite have a full tail yet. I always seem to get the roosters who have slow growing tails 🤔 Sharing this beautiful boy for #roosdaytuesday hosted by @newburyfarms
Butternut squash risotto with pan seared scallops on top? Yes please! We made this tonight and I must say we loved it. Time to save your Turkey carcass this week and make some amazing broth for meals like this!
Today i am thankful for above freezing temps and running water, i didn’t have to break a single bucket of ice 💧❄️ I’m also thankful for these amazing sunset views of the snow covered mountains 🗻

Glands inside of a cow’s nose constantly secrete mucus, making their noses wet. The only way a cow can clean out the mucus once it catches bacteria and dirt (and gets nice and sticky) is with it’s tongue which is super coarse like sand paper. Their sand paper tongue is also extremely helpful for grabbing extra large mouthfuls of hay and grass ☺️
Ate here with my family for Noah and I’s bday weekend celebration a week ago. My mom said she had the best trout dish she’d ever had 💕 Can’t argue coz my steak with roasted veggies was delicious as well! #farmstead #napavalley #napa
