Call me crazy, but I literally could not sleep because I was just so excited for today last night 💁🏼‍♀️ What happened today that made me not sleep? Haha Literally just the excitement of another day 🤓 . It’s so easy to take each day for granted. So easy to just see each day as another day, and nothing more. Yet God does amazing things-let’s us do amazing things-big and small every single day. Like drinking the yellow go-go juice that I drink each morning to get me movin’. Yah! That was something that gave me excitement this morning 💁🏼‍♀️ or the fact that we have bodies that we get to use to lift heavy weights and squat super low. I was super pumped for that today😆 . Be thankful for the big and small parts of your day. Do work, but don’t forget who it’s all for 👆🏻💪🏻 . #faithfullyfearless . . #simplyjoyful #buildyourtemple #gracefullybroken #adventureseeker #tallheart #shortbody #farmher #loverofdiscipline #imanagteacher #20somethinglife #growyourself #countrylifestyle #farmerwannabe #faithoverfitness #livintheironlife #defeatingfear #Heisgreater #teacherlife #countrychic #blueyesandblueskies #pugmom #digdeep #oldnavyactive #sleepless

I don’t normally post about home cooking, kitchen scenes, or meal prepping. But being put to the test this week with @gardenandgun was so fun! We did a secret ingredient challenge. The final product was magnificent. Had a little help from some friends!

The turkey breasts from our last batch of turkeys we butchered are two pounds + EACH so four + pounds of breast meat from a single turkey. One of these is enough for a full meal for the big Poff family. 😁 And these birds only took four months to get this big. (White turkeys from @hoovershatchery ) . . I made grain-free breaded turkey strips with salad and homemade honey mustard dressing for dinner tonight. 👅 . . #growyourown #raiseyourownmeat #pasturedturkey #farmher #homesteadliving #organicmeat #supportlocalfarms

Meat Chickens. Most difficult animal to raise in a pasture based system. Why? Everything loves the taste of chicken. They are fickle. And, while they can be smart, sometimes they dont make wise decisions.. for example when it's raining at 2 am and we go check on them in the middle of the night only to see they choose to huddle in the pasture vs go under shelter.. and then we proceed to pick every single one up and move them under shelter, drenched ourselves, but hey, as I have been told "Catherine, this is the life you chose" and yes, Tanner and I choose to raise animals for meat this way, because we believe. We believe in the benefits when meat is raised this way, and try our hardest to make it accessible to those that agree ❤

Some have said it’s the sexiest auger out there. We’d have to agree🔥 . . . Auger demos get mixed in to every season for us. It is incredibly rewarding to meet farmers and show them the value our products can add to their operations. Springland was started by our dad and 2 uncles who are farm boys who saw a hole in the market and have filled it with a line of products that have quality and the farmer as the focus. Hello Everyone 👋 Just wanted to introduce ourselves to the many new followers we've had in the past couple of weeks. I'm Bec 😎 Our little family lives in Central N.S.W Australia and over the past couple years we have been giving it ago to this #selfsufficient lifestyle. I hope you guys enjoy watching and learning with us as we make this journey. Farmer Mary enjoyed a morning away from the zoo today at her Handbuilding Clay class at the NCSU Crafts Center. She is mostly making ornaments to sell back at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. She was trying a red oxide stain on these before glazing most with a clear glaze. By next week some glazed pieces should be out of the kiln and available for purchase. There will also be bunny, hedgehog, donkey and other petting zoo shapes. Many have animals names on the back along with “Winterpast Farm”. Please keep local small businesses like Winterpast Farm in mind when you are holiday shopping this year. Please SHARE with friends who are animal lovers and other friends of the farm who will all be thinking about holiday shopping very soon. Most ornaments will be $5 and a few like the larger rooster here will be $10. Sales help Farmer Mary continue to care for and feed all the former pets now living at Winterpast Farm. Thank You for supporting a small local farm family animal rescue. Winterpast Farm Schedule: CLOSED Wed Sept 26 OPEN Thurs Sept 27 fr 10-5 OPEN Fri Sept 28 fr 10-5 OPEN Sat Sept 29 fr 10-5 OPEN Sun Sept 30 fr 12-5 Please read the entire “your visit” section at www.winterpast.org to learn how to schedule your visit. #winterpastfarm #pettingzoo #wakeforest #farmermary #wakeforestnc #ornaments #clayornaments #handmade #forsale #holidayideas #shoplocal #supportlocalsmallbusiness #ironoxide #makeartdaily #turtle #rooster #chick #duck #turkey #lamb #ncsucraftcenter #supportlocalsmallfarms #farmher #farmfun #ncfarm #plentyofshadehere #animalrescue #rentarabbit #getoutdoors #trianglefamilyfun

My mother-in-law passed away last night, and while, of course, there’s always some sadness with death, she was 93 and in a lot of pain, so it was time. She lived a long, full life and leaves behind quite a legacy. Death also makes you contemplate your own life. For me, Life is pretty good and rich with blessings, but I’ve tried hard to make it a discipline to focus on the things for which I am grateful. Even when my husband and I get into a tiff, I allow myself a minute to be mad at him; but then, I consciously choose to focus on the things about him that I love. With that perspective, I can’t be mad at him for long. I consider myself a glass half full girl. That doesn’t mean my life is without it’s hurdles, and sometimes I wallow a bit, but I choose to focus on the good. You will see what you train yourself to see. Trust me, I’m far from perfect, but I’m happy more than I’m sad, and I believe that’s because I choose to find the good. Life is too short to get stuck in anger or guilt or blame or fear or envy or any other emotion that brings you down. Those emotions have their place, but I choose not to stay there. I choose to find the good, and be grateful. #poppinblossoms #utahflowerfarm #dahliaseason . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #utahflorist #gardenersofinstagram #utahweddingflowers #utahweddingflorist #utahbride #utahbrideblog #utahgrown #fallflowers #growyourown #flowerfarm #fetesdesflirtyfleurs #farmher #imsomartha #bhgflowers #dahlias #inseasonblooms #farmerflorist #fieldtovase #seasonalfloweralliance #myfloraldays #florallove #ihavethisthingwithflowers #petalsandprops #flowering

Here is what the ground looks like after the turkey and chicken tractors have been moved. The grass is scratched, beaten down, full of natural fertilizer 💩, the grain that spilled from hungry mouths is picked from the ground by the bigger eggies, cats and dogs (apparently) who sit and wait greedily for the tractors to move each day. The ground looks terrible, but to think that it comes back stronger, more densely populated with a variety of grasses that contain even richer nutrition is so cool. . . . Being in the first year of farming (or any business, educational endeavor, first year of baby) can be rough. So many ups and downs. We certainly aren’t immune to those worries or feelings of failure just because Trevor has an off farm job that supports us. There have been many times I’ve thought and said aloud this was a stupid thing to do. We have felt beaten down, worried we couldn’t come back. . . . Our kids have gotten so into farm life though which has encouraged us so much. Their enthusiasm and helpful attitudes (ie no complaints) has inspired us to come back stronger. They have been happy when things were good and not discouraged when things failed and we had to try again. Their willingness to keep going has been humbling. . . . So on this dreary day, if you’re feeling the struggle, frustrated by your project, I want to encourage you to keep going. Remember that the cost of your new life is your old one. Chase your dream steadily. You will become stronger for it. ❤️ . . . #goaldigger #dreamchaser #firstyearfarmer #farmher #keepgoing #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #permaculture #chickentractor #backyardchickens #eggies #livestockguardiandog #modernfarmer #beginnerfarmer #comebackstronger #smallfamilyfarm #lomah

Please welcome todays Woman in Ag - @MuddyOakHenHouse Pt 1⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Hey y"all! Im Suzie of Muddy Oak Hen House! A little first generation farmstead that all began with a smal obsession to have colorful eggs fresh from our back yard. Ive been growing my own herbs and tomaters for roughly 9 years. As a stress reliefe on a suburb appartment balcony lined with window boxes. Flash forward 6 years and I finally had a slice of farm land to call me own. Where Hubby and I began tilling and planting and tending the ground to grow the majority of our produce.

In addition to homegrown produce, we raise up our own pork and house chickens in a coop built from salvaged materials by my Hubby. The main reason we keep chickens is for fresh eggs packed with

Please welcome todays Woman in Ag - @MuddyOakHenHouse Pt 3⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Loads of nutrients. However, on occasion and at the end of their lifespan, we make use of them past the hen house. Though our part in agriculture is small and for the time being, for personal use, I feel it is an important footprint in ag. We are raising up 4 littles who we hope follow on with ag and continue to connect with the land and educate on the importance of Agriculture in our world. The blood sweat and tears put into the food we raise gives a whole new look on the food we consume.⠀ Call me a food snob, but food truely can taste fresh and full of flavor when it is raised properly and in due time.

Such a busy day! On top of my son's homeschool routine and unit study, I have a messy house, a yard that badly needs mowing (and so much more, but at least a mow) and a garden that is transitioning itself into a fall garden without my permission. I had to race to get the rest of the ground cherries out before they drop their fruits everywhere and we end up with a big patch next year (I still can't believe my kids hated them) and Tuesday is Houseplant Watering day, so on top of everything else, I have to make sure each and every plant's hydration needs are met. The aloe gets the least amount, soaking up every last drop before I'll give it any more. The purple heart loves water and will take it anytime it can get it. The culinary basils are on a strict water-restriction diet right now to force their roots to grow stronger (which is working awesome!). I'm hoping to cultivate a nice little kitchen garden to last me through another winter in our miniscule apartment, where I longingly watch my elderly neighbors wasting their huge yards on non-edible BS like grass and rhododendrons! 😁🙅🌲🌿 . . . . . #urbangardening #pnwgarden #houseplant #indoorplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantsmakemehappy #plantbasedliving #eatwhatyougrow #selfsustainable #sustainableliving #ecofriendly #plantlife #plantlover #gardenersofinstagram #gardener #smallscalegardening #smallspacegarden #urbangarden #vegetablegarden #basil #kitchengarden #pacificnorthwest #pnwonderland #womenwhogrow #farmher #plantbased

The sale’s over so now we can breathe a little bit. I took a little bit bigger role in customer service during this sale. I called customers to see how their cattle are doing and received calls from customers needing pictures of bulls or asking my opinion on the heifers. I have to say I like hearing how our cattle are doing after they leave us. Customer service is so important and we are only as successful as our customers are! Which is why we offer free delivery and 1 year guarantee on all our bulls. . . . #beefadvocate #fortheloveofcows #cattle #ranch #beef #beefitswhatsfordinner #angus #blackangus #ranchy #cowhorse #aqha #americanangusassociation #genetics #kansas #gardinerangus #askarancher #cowboygirl #westernlifestyle #rurallife #farmer #farming #farmher #cattleman #rancher #womeninag #ranchlife #mamacows #bullsale

*Scroll through pics to see our newest addition!* This is where your organic free-range turkey comes from- a turkey plant. 99% of all US meat comes from factory farms and knowing the difference between factory farms treatment of animals, based on a food's label or packaging, is impossible for most consumers. 🦃 Our animals are part of the 1% not raised in factories. The only plant our animals will ever know is the ones they eat. We're committed to raising healthy, happy animals on pasture and have an open door policy on the farm. 🦃 Is the meat you're consuming part of the 1%? Do you know where your food comes from and do you know its story? 🦃 We've added 7 heritage breed turkeys to the farm! Right now the turkeys are enjoying pasture with the sheep in our chicken tractor. So far, so good.
