A promise is a promise, so today I'm revealing my *almost* color palette and the ugly place my design began.
One shortcut I try to use when creating designs for Spoonflower challenges is to reuse color palettes I've saved from previous designs. I have several Christmas palettes, so I thought I'd just start there. I had a rustic, farmhouse look in mind, and I knew I wanted to have white botanicals that would pop.
Well.... swipe to see my brown palette. 🤦
Maaaaybe I could've tweaked the colors and made it work but the palette felt blah, boring. 🙄
So, I added turquoise (swipe 👈 past the brown). This is my happy color and perks up nearly any design of mine. I also added fresh, bright coral in with the reds (because Pantone Living Coral is still all the rage). I actually really love this palette and *almost* entered it, but something felt off.
The white botanicals did not pop, and that was a deal breaker for me. 😔
I suddenly had the idea to add gold - after all, this is meant to be a holiday design and everyone wants their home to sparkle during the holidays. A few magic wand swipes later, and voila! My finished golden birdie design. 🌟
So, what do you think? Did you cringe at my browns? 😂 Do you prefer the cream background?? P.s. - if you haven't voted for these sweet little birdes yet, please use the link in my bio. It only takes 2 minutes!
