☘️Cabbage green peas tur dal koottu!
Pressure cook 1/2 cup tur dal with 1/4 tspn powdered turmeric, a small piece of solid asafoetida and 1+1/2 cup water. Chop about 400 grams cabbage. Heat 2 cups water in a cooking pot and add in the chopped cabbage and 1/2 cup green peas. (I don't like to pressure cook my vegetables. If you prefer to pressure cook the cabbage cook it along with the dal) add salt to taste & 1/2 tspn sambar powder. Cook until soft, about 10-12 minutes. Grind together 1 red chilli, 10-12 black pepper corn, 3/4 tspn cumin and 2 table spoons grated coconut to a fine paste. Add in the pressure cooked dal & the coconut spice paste to the cabbage. Adjust the consistency by adding little more water, if needed. Bring the koottu to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Turn the heat off. Temper with mustard seeds, 1 tspn skinned & split urad dal and curry leaves in a tspn of coconut oil. Serve hot with rotis and or steamed rice. ☘️ Phulkas!
