💤 Most people already fast —> while they sleep.
The point of intermittent fasting is to extend the fasting period beyond typical human patterns WITHOUT CUTTING CALORIES.
There are DIFFERENT METHODS for I.F., such as 16/8, which includes 16 consecutive hours without taking in calories, followed by 8 hours to take in ALL daily calorie needs.
🔺 FOR EXAMPLE, if you fast from 7 PM until 11 AM, it does NOT mean you skip the calories normally consumed at breakfast. If you typically eat 2,000 calories a day, you would STILL EAT 2,000 CALORIES but just between, i.e. 11 AM and 7 PM, instead.
⏰ Going extended periods of time without food and caloric drinks, anywhere between 16 to 24 hours, forces the body into a state of PERCEIVED FAMINE.
Research has shown that during hours of fasting, our cells enter into a state of “autophagy.” This is our body’s natural way of DETOXIFYING and RECYCLING CELLS that are no longer functioning optimally. This protective mechanism has the benefit of REDUCING PROBLEMATIC CELLS, such as those that lead to cancer and chronic diseases. It allows the strongest, HEALTHIEST CELLS TO THRIVE in a cleaner environment while sloughing away those less beneficial, and even toxic to the body.
There are MANY BENEFITS to this form of detoxification. 👀👇🏼
- Improved insulin sensitivity for better blood sugar regulation
- Normalizes “hunger hormones” i.e. grehlin
- Increases Human Growth Hormone levels, which helps with health, fitness, and the aging process
- Lowers triglyceride levels
- Helps reduce inflammation
- Reduces free radical damage
- Boosts fat burning
- Improves sleep
- Can help protect against Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, T2 diabetes, and cancers
👤 Intermittent fasting is NOT FOR EVERYONE, and it’s nothing anyone needs to do. It’s just another tool that works for some people. If it doesn’t fit with your lifestyle, or if your body doesn’t adjust after a few weeks, then there’s no pressure to force it into working.
ALWAYS pay close attention to your body.
Keep it simple. Keep it healthful.
