Deadlifting 221lbs Im not going super heavy because I am also maintaining my flexibility, agility and speed while working on strength and power. Ive seen some small guys breaking their lower back to deadlift heavy weight and I just smh. See im smarter than that. No need to egolift. Im about 5'8 160lbs...tell me if I need to focus on liftin over 400lbs or do I need to just intensify my training by applying other Progressive Overload methods? People act as though heavier weights are the one and only way to increase muscle mass. Remember you can increase reps, you can decrease rest time and you can slow down your concentric and eccentric motion(TUT) as other methods. Im good working between 200-245lbs range for a bit and applying these methods. Wasn't able to share details of weight loss from last few days. Today I am posting summary of last 5 days. On 15th and 16h I wasn't able to follow the diet , doing workout and check weight. I gained back around 1kg in these two days. On 17th I started to follow the diet again. 20 Days have completed till date and I have lost around 3kgs. This has been very helpful in breaking the platue. This was supposed to be lighter... Done a few house jobs at the weekend so my strength isn't 100% The plan was to start at 80kg, do another light 10 with 100kg then put the energy into the final lift. 8 months ago, here I’m doing some seated deadlifts with (183kg/405lbs). I remember I had hurt my hamstring doing some sumo deads (the last time I’ve done them) but still wanted to do some heavy deadlifts, so I tried the seated deadlift. DEADLIFT PREP 💥 I am a huge advocate of incorporating specific circuits after dynamic mobility to prime and potentiate the body for heavy compounds exercises. I think it’s hugely important to activate the core, fire up the stabilising muscles and prime the central nervous system to maximise heavy lifts ✅ Here is an example of a deadlift specific routine that I like to perform prior to my deadlifts 🏋🏼‍♀️ 1. Broad jumps x 6 2. Suitcase deadlift x 8 ES 3. Band good mornings x 10 I recommend performing as a circuit for 2-3 rounds. #Sundayfunday always includes some core work too. Here are some really simple leg lifts or raises, however you want to call them. Using no weight here, just grabbed the thingamajig behind my head and had fun working the lower core. Alternating both legs together first then staggered, one on top of other. These are obviously sped up to fit the entire set in. So of course do them slower, nice and controlled.😊

Luckily for me, Eric Troy put me on Gripper training very early in my Deadlift journey. Similarly, for my trainees, my thumb rule is that your grip strength should be more than your deadlift max so that at no point is your grip a limiting factor to a Deadlift PR. __ Gripper Training helped me immensely because I have dislocateable joints and my thumbs tend to subluxate very easily. Gripper Training has kept this in line and I think it's been over 10 years since I've worked these 3-7 times a week consistently. __ There are a boat load of ways to go about training them. My purpose was to hold on to a heavy barbell. That is static strength. So while I might not be able to CLOSE the big grippers; I am able to hold a flexed position for time. I try to close every rep but if it doesn't happen; I just hold on to that position for an extended period of time. Static strength. __ Now that my goals are more hypertrophy based and I have so much direct bicep training in my routine; gripper training works against me in that it has begun causing chronic pain in my forearms and I'm worried I might get compartment syndrome because of it. Well Sunday evenings I train triceps, biceps and some shoulders and yes, I did do those things as usual. Sometimes I will do some flat bench if I am prepared for it. I wasn't prepared for it today but I gave in to it when I saw the benches were empty. This was after I already finished going ham with triceps so this wasn't a very good decision😑. Did some warm up sets, they went well. But the last 2 sets were not as good as they could have been. Triceps felt a bit toasted & my hip wanted to be weird on me while setting up. Thank goodness I stopped myself from going any higher up in weight this evening. Disaster avoided, another lesson learned. 👉Always do any compound exercises first. Warm up properly for them. I need to listen to my own advice 🤣😖 But oh how tempting that empty bench press can be!😍😬
