Give them a reason to stay. We can’t actually go on without them.
A huge thank you to all the flower growers who are doing a damn fine job growing gorgeous blooms without pesticides. And to all the florists and flower lovers who are supporting this ‘growing’ industry.
As well as crucial pollinators for food to grow, bees reduce pollution and a whole lot more. But over one MILLION species currently face extinction. This is not a healthy situation to put it mildly... the way we buy, grow and think about our flower industry could make a massive difference here.
Three things you can do:
1. Only buy local flowers and start a conversation about pest control
2. Stop using pesticides in your garden, look up IPM
3. Plant bee-friendly flowers and plants - lavender, daisies, salvia, sunflowers, poppies to name a few.
