Fulfilling the Master's Vision for CIF . The 342nd Gita Jnana Yajna was held and completed successfully in Chinmaya Mission Kannur where the small sleepy town defied expectations and a mind-boggling 5,000 people turned up for the Yajna! . On the last day Gurudev looked at the Center as a father would at a grown-up child and declared, "This Mission Center can now organize a National Camp!" And the National Camp was held, the town rose to the occasion and proved its capability. . Gurudev's happiness was that of a father over his child's perfect maturing. He next floated the idea of a 1988 International Camp in Kannur. . The devotees were baffled for the town's infrastructure wasn't up for such a camp! Yet they went ahead and before long, "International Camp, Cochin" was locked into Gurudev's itinerary for 1988. . Gurudev had thus envisioned a research organisation way back in 1983, in Kerala itself! He just took his time in grooming the people and the place. . He was testing the drive and energy of the Kerala teams for a future only he foresaw. And it was the International Camp of 1988 that had underscored the capabilities, the potential and the determination of Cochin, and of course, the necessity for a research Center that came to be called Chinmaya International Foundation. . Thus, the Master laid ground for a National and then International Camp, showed the people of Kerala their potential and got them to ask for a research memorial in the state! . So it was on January 1st, 1989 that Gurudev's revolving chair was auctioned and fetched a sum and the auspicious and a formal announcement of CIF was made.
