Working out with neck and/or back pain...some doctors say you should take it easy until it feels better and some doctors say that it's better to stay active in order to strengthen your muscles in those areas which will help support them. . From my experience, working out has greatly helped alleviate my neck and back pain. In 2016 I was rear ended by a driver going about 45-50 mph. My car was totaled and I now had to go to physical therapy 3-4 times a week. When it first happened I stopped going to the gym since the doctors told me it would make it worse. I dealt with splitting headaches everyday and could no longer wear anything heavier then 5 lbs on my back or neck...mind you I was going to school at the time for chemical engineering so I lived in the library and always had books and a laptop. . Always being an active person this was a very difficult transition for me. And honestly I felt like not working out at all was making me feel worse. So I started doing my research and found low impact exercises I could do to still maintain and eventually increase my muscle growth. As I started to feel better I started to do more and increased my weight and activity. I also started kickboxing again which was the exact workout I needed to get myself back on track. . I've learned with my body that when I have neck or back pain I have to reassess what workouts I'm going to do for the day. Sometimes its yoga or pilates and sometimes I just honestly need to rest. There are 2 things I hate about this photo... 1. Are the lunges - oh so good for you, but that lactic acid burn gets me every time. 2. My gut! . I’m not at my fittest nor my leanest right now. . I’m rehabbing some injuries that restrict my training and I’m rehabbing my priorities to now include more time for my health and fitness. . The old adage is true, if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. . Today make three good choices for your health: 1. Move your body- go for a walk or do some simple body weight exercises and stretching. 2. Get outside- get some vitamin D, breathe some fresh air. 3. Eat from nature- vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, non-processed meats. . You owe it to yourself! #notphotoshopped #realwoman
