Here is the final piece! 'Memories of Bluebell Woods' a community art piece, designed and made by a group of women with themes of loss, isolation, memory and friendship. A mostly wet felted piece using a variety of fibres, threads and silks. Extra embellisment was added as described in the 3 previous detail posts, using collective skills of the attendees. This was a joy to do and loved seeing the confidence and friendships develop over the 8 weeks we completed this piece. Most importantly was the input and designing at the beginning of the project that was completely led by the women, many of which initially believed they weren't creative. As you can see they did a marvellous job! I guided the women, by showing them different techniques to create the effects and how they could achieve this. A lot of the time into designing was crucial so that the women had complete ownership of this piece. They each had a sketch book and flower press to develop and contribute their ideas.
The wall hanging was commissioned to be displayed and celebrated in the area where these women live.
