American Kestrels or Sparrow Hawks as they are commonly called, have fascinated me ever since I was a kid growing up in Medford, Oregon.
We had an acre and a half, so I grew up doing the 4-H thing and raising beef 🐄, goats 🐐, chickens 🐔🐓, ducks, geese, rabbits 🐇, and all sorts of other creatures. Yep I was the kid with the menagerie. 🤗
We had wild pheasant living happily in our pasture and Kestrels often hunted in the grasses. 🐀I loved watching them hover over a spot in the grass and then suddenly dive to come up with some critter. You could find them all over the telephone wires waiting and watching for their next meal.
What fascinated you as a kid and still does?
