Sexuality can be one of the weirdest and most confusing topics for someone that isn’t completely straight. Someone posted the kinsey scale on Facebook a couple days ago, I took a quick look and came to the conclusion that I’m a two. .
If you don’t know, the Kinsey scale, AKA the heterosexual-homosexual rating scale, ranks a person’s sexual orientation based on their experience or response at a given time. The scale starts at 0, meaning exclusively heterosexual, to 6, meaning exclusively homosexual. The scale was designed to illustrate that sexuality is fluid and subject to change overtime. As a two, that means I’m predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual. This categorization means I could technically be considered bisexual, or at the very least bi-curious. .
Bi-curious refers to individuals heterosexual or homosexual who show interest or curiosity for sexual activity with a person of the sex they do not typically favor. Honestly, I have little to no experience in homosexual relations and I don’t feel as though I have explored these feelings enough to call myself bisexual. .
So, does this make me queer or not? Queer is an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities who are not heterosexual or cisgender. As of late, Queer has been used to describe a broad spectrum of non-normative sexual and gender identities. I don’t want to label myself as queer just for shits and giggles, because some people in the LGBTQ community may look at me as a “straight ally” looking to appropriate the cultural aspects of being queer. .
Now this is where it gets really confusing. Ideally, I would date two people and I’d get the best of both worlds, but because of my lack of homosexual experience, I find vaginas other than my own icky. I know that sounds both immature and bizarre, but I honestly don’t find them particularly attractive. I don’t find penises attractive, but I’m accustomed to them. The perfect person for me might be a male-to-female pre-op, maybe, maybe not. Or maybe I just need to explore my homosexual feelings.
