#WIMCA2019 AWARDEE . . Tola Obi is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CentrespreadGrey and serves on the board of directors. At Centrespread, she worked as an Account Manager for Redline (the Public Relations Subsidiary of Centrespread). Advancement in her career took her to traditional advertising with Centrespread and the thrill of advertising excited her, igniting her skills and talent, yielding the satisfaction she desired. There, she managed premium brands and led major campaigns in Nigeria. While at Centrespread, she sought further expansion and nurtured the digital arm of the agency, DraftFCB Interactive (now, Interactive CT) as the Managing Director. . Throughout her years as MD of Interactive, Tola remained on the board of Centrespread where she actively contributed to strategic decisions that guided the Agency in its decision to become a part of Grey. In 2016, she formally assumed the role of COO so as to be able to supervise the management team and ease the successful transition from the old Centrespread to its new identity. While this has not been an easy task, she is gradually turning the fortunes of the 35year old agency for the better! Now, she leads the team on the principle that brands that lead culture are more successful than those who follow it. . I've recently been involved in a project which is using a consultancy to promote leadership and expected behaviours. I was quite surprised that on investigation that in a team of 30 strong, the company only had one female in their team- the PA. I don't care what the company reputation is, to me this doesn't promote balanced leaders. So now I need to consider how to approach this. I'm not saying they should employ women for the sake of it, but a balanced consultancy surely is much stronger in the messaging they promote? Would you even continue to work with this consultant? Good sunday morning thoughts :) #womeninbusiness #womenunite #ladies #whatwouldbeyoncedo #thisgirlcan #project #programme #wegotthis #peahen #peacock #thepmpeahen #projectmanagement #programmemanagement #wipm #business #work #office #benice #empowerment #femaleboss #femaleleaders #support #betterthebalance #genderbalance #genderequality #womensupportwomen #girls #leadership #sundayfunday #sundayvibes

Why a peahen then? I work in a place where males dominate the office. Most are over 40, white, been here since they were 16 and very set in their ways. They also love to show off in front of each other, displaying their feathers and puffing out chests with their career victories and knowledge. They're not bad people, just caught in a world where their behaviour is acceptable and any other bird is not. Especially the ladies. I'm under 40 and female. I'm experienced and know how things could work but I don't always get heard over the boys and their feathers. A peahen by nature is not as flashy as a peacock. So that's my whole analogy for this blog. "I can't say anything in particular that inspired me to be a Social Worker. When I first came across Saakar in university, I always knew I had to be a part of this organisation. Soon I came to realize how lucky I was to be in a position to be a changemaker. It just seemed natural to respond to them with empathy and sensitivity. One of my favourite moments with Saakar was when we organised a cricket match to raise funds to buy sports equipment for the underprivileged children. These are the moments you live for, to see the smiles on the faces who never knew happiness would return. @rakshan__khajuriaa about his journey with Saakar. 💙 #SocialResponsibility #Changemakers #Leader #Inspiration #Cause #CricketForCause #Saakar #ServingHumanity #UnitingYouth #BetterTheBalance #BetterTomorrow #NonProfitOrganization #Underprivileged #HelpingHands #SocialWorker

Better the balance. Better the world. A gender-balanced world can help create a harmonious world of peace and prosperity for all!⠀ ⠀ In March of 2019, a Women’s Summit was held in the Philippines under the theme, “Better the Balance, Better the World.” Over 1,000 women leaders, advocates, students, and influential women speakers gathered for the summit at the University of Makati as a step towards building a more gender-balanced world. @global.peace.women ⠀ ⠀ #GlobalPeace
