Sweet as honey? 🍯
As well as being something of a cleanser collector (ahem, hoarder), I've also had a love for the hydrating, antibacterial benefits of honey-based skincare since discovering french brand Nuxe about 15 years ago.
So I was really pleased to see other companies including Bee-Yu and @farmacybeauty get on board the honey train and especially delighted to try Farmacy's Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser.
The gel, foaming alternative to the brand's cult classic Green Clean balm, this cleanser contains naturally derived cleansers (sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate- coconut based and water soluble), as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate, liquorice root to brighten, and honey (a humectant and anti-bacterial/viral/fungal)
Aside from looking pretty much exactly like honey, one of the first things that struck me about this cleanser it also smells like it too. But not just any old honey...this has the slightly floral scent of the fancy kind that has been harvested from bees that take pollen from wild flowers…
For me this has the effect of making the cleanser both relaxing to use and also of reminding me of yummy breakfasts (making yue urge to nibble quite strong). Beyond the lovely scent, the other thing that really stands out (to me anyway) is that I really only need the tiniest amount of this to get an impressive foam going. And while I'm not usually much of a foaming cleanser user, this is such a gentle alternative that I'm enjoying using it if my skin is particularly oily or as a second cleanse.
The results are skin that is cleansed without being stripped, although I still do moisturise pretty quickly after using this.
Good for: A second cleanse. Oily skin types who still like plenty of hydration in their cleansers, and dry skin types during breakouts.
Plus points: A naturally derived foaming agent which is through yet gentle. The inclusion of honey makes this suitable for most skin issues- including sensitivity, dehydration, and blemish prone skins. Cruelty-free.
Minuses: Not so much a minus as a side note that for those looking for a cheaper alternative to this £27 cleanser, Nuxe's Reve de Miel (£14.50) offers many similar benefits.
