One of my favorite places to visit. Vetter Falls in the Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park in the Nass Valley. On the T'Seax river. One of the most well known stories is about the genesis of the volcano. Legend has it that children had shown disrespect to the life-giving salmon by putting stones and burning sticks into their backs and watching them swim. The elders warned the children repeatedly to stop but they did not listen. Soon the ground began to rumble. The volcano and the lava flow then covered the valley bottom, redirected the mighty Nass River and destroyed two villages. This resulted in 2000 Nisga’a people perishing. @bcoutdoorsmagazine . . . #nassvalley #nisgaa #nisgaamemoriallavabedpark #lavabeds #beautifulbritishcolumbia #bcoutdoorsmagazine #vetter #tseaxriver #phantomfish #volcano #lava #waterfalls #beautifulphoto #tealwater #confluence

It's been a while since I was able to leave my current home base to go on a proper getaway. The last time I was able to leave the US was all the way back in February when I went to Montréal. Ironically my 2nd time leaving the US in 2018 was also to go back to Canada, but this time to visit the West Coast. I wanted a place that could easily be done in a long weekend, and luckily for everyone based on the West Coast, and more specifically in the PNW, British Columbia is just the spot! Funny enough I had never been to BC, even the whole time I was on the West Coast before living in NYC. As the holidays are rapidly approaching I wanted a place that had that friendly Canadian charm but would also feel like I had actually escaped and gone to another country. This perfectly describes Victoria! The architecture, the walkability, the cute decorations, the food, everything about this place made me feel as though I had escaped. The fact it's only a 1.5 hour ferry ride from Washington made that even better! To add a magical cherry on top of the whole experience was the amazing team at the @fairmontempress , who not only gave me the most PERFECT harbour view room but also provided me with a full Empress experience including brunch and their infamous Afternoon Tea. The best part about all of this? It's a luxury weekend that is actually attainable for everyone, and I'm breaking it all down for you in today's post!! I love long solo drives in BC. The beautiful mountains everywhere, endless nature and sceneries, country road songs (no one to complain about it), many coffees and teas, stopping everywhere to take pictures (missing the ferry). Most of all, driving by myself on these roads has my mind spinning all day and promotes self-growth!! 🤓

"Though fairy tales end after ten pages, our lives do not. We are multi-volume sets. In our lives, even though one episode amounts to a crash and burn, there is always another episode awaiting us and then another. There are always more opportunities to get it right, to fashion our lives in the ways we deserve to have them. Don't waste your time hating a failure. Failure is a greater teacher than success." . . . . . . #heartache #travel #revelstoke #beautifulbritishcolumbia #britishcolumbia #summer2018 #latergram #explore #adventure #travelcanada #trainbridge

Elden had a blast at #jerichobeach playing in the sand, jumping on and off the giant beach logs and watching the seagulls squawk. . . He loves playing in cold sand. We think the sand in Greece & Egypt was too hot in summer so now he's a little scared of sand unless it's cold 🤷. . . The views at this beach are amazing, beautiful water, boats and mountains in the background...
