Nice stroll through the neighborhood to keep the legs moving. Every year around this time I can't help but think of my first 5k ever at Gasparilla. It reminds me of all the "firsts" in running. One of the most fun was trying to get a 9 minute mile with my "coach" (swipe to see). He's tough, but fair, especially if you feed him a few gummies 😉. Heute mal Pause. . . Ich muss zugeben, ich war heute einfach zu müde. Der Frühdienst hat mich total geschlaucht und da wir heute Abend noch auf einem Konzert waren, hatte ich absolut keine Kraft fürs Training. I know where I want to be. My triathlon journey is clearly mapped out in my head: Olympic distances this year, IronMan 70.3 next year. However, I realized that I have no idea, at present, where I exactly am. How do I navigate to point B, when I don't know where point A is, in the first place? Where to begin? So yesterday, I was at Coach @flyingdonv 's lab to have my metabolic and lactate tests done. Equipped with data from these tests, we can accurately create my "plan of attack" for my upcoming races, based on current performance, while efficiently working towards my goals. Eres de los que realiza sentadilla “a medias”?? O mejor dicho Realizas sentadilla a 90grados? Te decimos que para trabajar aún mejor, tener un crecimiento favorable y fortalecer el músculo deberás realizarlas profundas ya que de la otra manera estarás solo trabajando la parte del cuadricep y los demás músculos no estarán tan activados. (No decimos que la de 90 grados no sirva, claro que sirve incluso en esta puedes cargar un poco más ya que el rango de movimiento de la articulación de la rodilla y la cadera no llegan a ser completos, pero debes saber realizarla... al momento de la bajada el cartílago que rodea la articulación de la rodilla se comprime y al llegar a los 90 se puede decir que estamos en el punto más alto de presión de la la rótula sobre el fémur y es ahí donde nuestras rodillas pueden verse comprometidas). Para realizar una sentadilla profunda deberás poner atención en tu posición ... coloca los pies a la anchura de tus hombros aprox. Con la punta de los pies mirando hacia enfrente, cuida que tus rodillas no pasen las puntas de los pies, siempre mirando hacia enfrente teniendo una postura correcta y un equilibrio adecuado. OJO: para poderlas realizar bien deberás manejar pesos que puedas realmente cargar ... nos referimos a calidad sobre cantidad. No siempre el cargar mucho peso será mejor, la aplicación y la concentración con que realices el ejercicio es lo que cuenta (aun así hagas con 15 kilos) hazlo concentrado. Club session tonight and it was a 6 mile tempo. A mixed elevation route and in theory a good pace test ahead of Sunday’s Snake Lane 10 miler.. . But... this was one of those sessions that just felt harder than it should have done, legs felt tired from the weekends trails, pace wasn’t quite there, mind wandered and to be honest I didn’t really enjoy it this one like I normally would.. Let’s talk about goals... 🎯💁🏻‍♀️ I’ve said for a little while now that I’m not going to share my ultimate goal marathon time - perhaps not even fully commit to one. I’ll be honest and say that I’m scared to fail. And telling you all about it means I’ll fail publicly. Perhaps even spectacularly. - - - Having said that, I don’t think it’s any secret that I want to go under 4 hours. I believe I can do it, if everything goes to plan on the day. But there are a lot of variables. And that’s scary! - - - We’re all taught from a pretty young age that we have to be goal setters. No - goal getters! We just have to plan, be SMART, “work hard and you can achieve anything”. 🏆🙌🏼 But that’s not true. Sorry to break it to you, but we can’t... necessarily. And we have to learn to deal with failure. Or even be happy with it. - - - So while I have my sights firmly set on sub-4, or maybe even a slightly more intense goal, I’m equally happy in enjoying the process and taking more from the experience than my goal times will give me. 🏃🏻‍♀️😅 I’m really enjoying running right now, and I don’t want anything to take away from that!

Just a little of this morning’s workout. Pushups, mountain climbers, bent over rows, deadlift, bicep curls, upright rows, starfish abs, weighted squats, weighted lunges. There was about double that in this work out but I couldn’t fit it all. It was a good one. And it’s saved on my favorites in my @aaptiv app so I can do it again. Alopecia is more than just losing your hair. You lose apart of yourself too, but through community, supportive friends and people you discover and learn what is really important in life; being kind, caring, loving, empathetic and generous. Alopecia changed my life, but definitely for the better. It hasn’t always been easy, there’s still times where I feel sad when someone isn’t nice, but at the end of the day I’m thankful for the people and journey who have helped shape me. God knew exactly what he was doing when he blessed me with Alopecia. In 45 days I’ll be taking on the Umstead 50 miler in Raleigh fundraising for Children’s Alopecia Project. Full moon in Thailand, peaking through the trees. 🍂 I always take time to be with moon 🌝 when she is full, but sure don’t always photograph her. In fact I don’t think I’ve even taken anything but I quick iPhone snap. But tonight there really was no possible way to not take this photo. I walked along the beach, saw the moon emerging from the clouds and revealing herself through the trees and was taken back but the breathtaking beauty. There is no non coney way to write this! #truth 💛 So what is this Full Supermoon moon about? This Full moon is all about: Awareness Grounding Being in the moment Forgiveness Reflection Letting go This sits well with me right now, as I am here in this special place to let go of what no longer serves and create space for the new life which is on it’s way. 🌱 All the above take patience and practice to be with in our lives. Letting go is always a hard one for me. Letting go does not mean you do not love, you do not appreciate and you do not value what once was. Letting go to me, means you stop making yourself responsible for something or someone which had pasted, the things we cannot change, yet which often drains so much of our energy.💃🏼 The memories can live on. The lessons and experiences may always enrich who you are AND you can let go of the weight and burden of something which is not in your now.👋🏻 I thank the moon this evening for giving the space to be aware, ground, be in the moment, forgive myself for not doing this more, reflect and let go.🌕
