"We’re already a cyborg," said Musk. "You have a digital version of yourself, a partial version of yourself online in the form of your emails, your social media, and all the things that you do." We already have "super powers," contends Musk, citing the world’s access to smartphones and personal computers. "You have more power than the president of the United States had 20 years ago. You can answer any question, you can video conference with anyone, anywhere. You can send messages to millions of people instantly. Just do incredible things." But that’s only the start. Code Conference 2016.
Elon has always entertained the idea that we,as humans, are already cyborgs. He makes a valid point. The smartphone being the terminal or access point in which this symbiosis takes place. We’ve created digital versions of ourselves, and we use this daily through social media, email, and the internet. We’ve made it a part of us. Not Google, not Apple, or Microsoft, but ourselves.
When talking about artificial intelligence, whilst on the Joe Rogan show, Elon moves on to saying “if we can’t beat it, join it”. Suffice to say we know what Elon’s agenda is. I find it slightly strange how Elon paints a dystopian future when it comes to artificial intelligence and singularity however, it’s clear he’s joining the movement. He’s working on a new company called Neuralink. The goal of Neuralink is to create a human-machine interface. “Neuralink is developing ultra high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers.”
