📷 @tayboone10 & @euphoric_wandering_soul 🙏 . . Moving forward every week we will be featuring people who are bringing bags on the trail to clean up after individuals. Theres no ignoring the fact that trash on the trail has become a problem on most trails that get a lot of traffic. . . . In efforts to spread awareness & encourage positive habits on the trail we will be featuring anyone on the page who takes responsibility for other people's trash. These mountains are sacred land, and should be treated with the up most respect. In the future we will be rewarding this behavior in more plentiful ways as as we can moving forward so cheers to start. 🌞 So lets come together & make a change!
My ongoing goal through the wet plate is to make connections with people in my community & create with them. So far it’s been nothing short of magical & constantly giving me goosebumps. @chamberswoodcraft is not only a very skilled woodworker but is also well versed in poetry & picked out some really beautiful poems to accompany shots I’ve taken. • Below is a poem by W. S. Merwin for this 5x7 tintype, shot this winter in our last big snow at Riverside Cemetery. • Every year without knowing it I have passed the day When the last fires will wave to me And the silence will set out Tireless traveler Like the beam of a lightless star Then I will no longer Find myself in life as in a strange garment Surprised at the earth And the love of one woman And the shamelessness of men As today writing after three days of rain Hearing the wren sing and the falling cease And bowing not knowing to what
Flying over Cherokee Lake and near Rogersville, TN. SWVA is my home, but so is eastern TN. I grew up on this lake and nearly fished every corner with my dad. #appalachiauncovered

We are so excited to announce that the newest edition of the Foxfire Magazine has at last hit the shelves! We made a few changes this year, most notably the style of the magazine. The @foxfirestudents unanimously decided that they wanted to return to the original format of the magazine from the 1960s--complete with matte paper and woodblock prints. We have three special covers, each designed by a different student. There is a limited number of each, so grab a copy today from our gift shop or at www.foxfire.org!
