“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.” -Andy Rooney
Although most of my pictures are from major trips or at least weekend adventures that is not the majority of my life. That’s social media in a nutshell. The highlight reel. It is the reason why I try to incorporate quotes and what is actually going on in my head/world. This quote for example makes me think of a trip to Europe and backpacking in the Alps (that is happening someday for sure). But it also makes me think of my morning yoga, my two eggs over medium on bagel slices and tea. My bike ride to the bus and trip up to campus. My workout between classes and cruise down the hill to home to whatever book I happen to be reading or random weekday adventure to pop up. And then dinner, more reading, and bed. It’s kind of weird to enjoy routine but mine works for me.
What are your day to day routines that pick you up and keep you going when you are thinking about your next major life event?
