Let’s talk about snecks 🍩🍫🍿. . A lot of us, and I mean A LOT of us make a decision to take action on our physical health and set a goal of reducing body fat. . We then go out the by all this shit superfoods that we don’t even really like and cost us a fucking monthly pay check JUST BECAUSE we see influencers eating, endorsing it, we see ‘fit’ people eating it, we see it in menus at hippy cafes and think that if these people eat that and look like that, then ima start a diet I don’t want to do because it’s only for a few weeks time, until I loose the fat, right?. . So what happens after these few weeks of restricted, expensive dieting? We’re fucking miserable, we’re tired, craving junk and we’ve missed old mate’s 21st last weekend because we were too busy eating a tuna salad at home feeling sorry for ourselves. . These are some snecks I eat on a daily basis. I keep these in my work locker so they are easily accessible and provide variety. . These snecks are all DIET FRIENDLY. I fucking those words together...’diet friendly’ 🤦🏼‍♀️ they’re yummy, they keep me satisfied and they’ll cause an debate with some know it all in the office who thinks carbs kill you - which is free entertainment - am I right? . Loosing fat doesn’t need to be expensive, hard, not satisfying, and just fucking boring and tasteless. . Fluffy pumpkin cashew butter pancakesss 🎃🙆🏼‍♀️ By @sara.haven ‘Tis the season when pumpkin is the only thing rivaling cauliflower in produce popularity, and I’m here for it — especially in the form of fluffy af cakes 👏🏻👏🏻 Heading to Barry’s Bootcamp + brunch by the bay this morning, so throwing it back to one of my fave sweet + savory spreads from awhile back 🥞 Happy weekending! 😘 - This pancake recipe is my go-to when I’m feeling more ambitious than usual (read: I typically use add-water-only mixes🙎🏼‍♀️), but it actually comes together quickly, and the leftovers can be stored in the fridge or freezer for easy pop-in-the-toaster breakfast prep 👌🏻. - Pumpkin Cashew Butter Pancakes: ¼ cup coconut flour • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon • ¼ teaspoon baking soda • 2 tbsp. cashew butter (can sub any nut butter) • 2 eggs, slightly beaten • 1 egg white, beaten stiff (optional, but makes the pancakes fluffy) • ½ tbsp. honey 🐝 (you can sub stevia or another sweetener) • 1/2 cup pumpkin • 3 tbsp. almond milk (can swap pumpkin purée) • 1) Combine first two dry ingredients in a small bowl. In separate bowl, stir nut butter, eggs, maple syrup (or honey), and pumpkin. Slowly stir in almond milk. #MotivationalMonday I had to give my head a shake today. I woke up disappointed with myself about the bit of timber I’ve put on this summer. Fat that was gained because I was saying yes to life and yes to occasions with friends I won’t see for a long time and family I haven’t seen in years. ———————————————— I read an email written by @diren.kartal today (Man like Diren) that reminded me that I actually know really bloody well how to manage myself, how to get rid of the fat and also how to enjoy life while doing so. I was able to go from a size 22 to a size 12 by relearning habits, mindset and holding myself accountable to my goals. It wasn’t a straight line and I had incredible people by my side. Nothing extreme, no gimmicks just simply finally finding a lifestyle that works for me. And that’s the answer, no more excuses just being a bit more sensible with food and get myself up and moving again. And just like that I’m back in the UK 😅 After landing at 2 am and then driving 4 hours home sleep deprived is an under statement. Despite that I’ve spent the day getting my routine back on track. Starting uni on Wednesday means I have to go in with a fresh mind so having my routine under control will 100% help me. These are the things I’ve done to get back into one: 🌟 gone back to tracking my calories (this personally works well for me but isn’t for everyone) eating and making healthier food choices and keeping my water intake high! 🌟 reorganising parts of my life aka I’ve moved my entire room around and am currently in the midst of swapping out my summer clothes for my autumn winter wardrobe! 🌟 writing everything and anything down in my planner! This helps me organise so much especially when I have a bucket load of stuff I need to get done! 🌟 just move more, i didn’t go to the gym but I did walk to the shop instead of drive, helps me clear my head and concentrate on what needs doing. Ready to go straight to bed and hopefully not wake up feeling like a zombie before I go to work 😭 Happy Monday, lets make this week a great one! 🧡

𝕄𝕠𝕟𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤 💭 • • • • Since starting back at work, I have struggled to get back into a routine. The first term is always the hardest, I have to remind myself every year about this, but I have realised that I am in a bit of a funk. I am worrying far too much about trivial things and it’s beginning to have a negative impact on my anxiety. I’ve gained fat over the summer, due to eating more and moving less, it’s as simple as that. No excuses. The final straw was trying to find clothes yesterday that didn’t feel like they were going to suffocate me and I could quite easily have cried in frustration. Exercise and finding the right balance with calorie counting was helpful for me and also contributed to changing my mindset in a positive way. White/Brown Rice Vs Don't Waste Your Time & Energy Worrying About This 📸 by @tjmrobertson You are gonna have to be eating a BOAT LOAD of rice for this to even matter, as the difference in calories & macros between 100g of White & Brown rice is 99.99% irrelevant. . Comparing the 2 is the "clean eating" community taking shit too far. Its pointless. A waste of time when you should be focused on more important things which will yield far greater results, like your Total Daily Calorie Intake, Sleep Quality, You Activity Levels, Progress in the gym, etc . Before you start arguing about minuscule differences between white & brown rice, let me ask you this.... . Did you track all of the calories you consumed over the weekend? Including booze? Yes, there are calories in your beers, cocktails & jaegerbombs and yes calories still count on the weekend, even if you rename them "cheat meals" or call it "carbing up" . It would be better to compare a bowl of rice to the takeout food you ate while drunkenly stumbling home or to the tub of ice cream you crushed, sitting on your sofa watching Netflix all weekend 😂 🤷‍♂️ . If you aren't losing fat it is because you are consuming too many calories. Period. Not because you ate a bowl of white rice rather than brown rice a couple times during the week. A better use of your time would be to start accurately tracking your caloric intake, at least for a short period of time, so you can learn about the amount of calories in the foods you eat frequently and learn the calories per portion. . Once you understand 100g of rice is ~115-130 calories, mostly carbs with a little protein, you can eat which ever one you want! Which ever one you prefer the taste and texture of. As with all food choices and dieting strategies, it really does come down to your own personal preference - which one is going to help you adhere to your diet method of choice long enough to lose the fat you want to lose and reach your goal. .

💥INTERMITTENT FASTING💥 Intermittent Fasting isn’t really a diet but more of an eating strategy. By restricting the amount of time you can eat, you’ll most likely consume fewer calories.

Intermittent Fasting is broken up into a “Fasting” window and a “Feeding” window.
.
In the Fasting window, you can consume zero calorie beverages (water, black coffee, tea etc.) - no food and no calories! (I know this isn’t technically an actual “fast” but for weightless purposes it’s what works well) 😊

In the Feeding window, you can eat what you normally eat (protein, carbs, vegetables, fruits, fats etc.) You should still be drinking water and you can have coffee
.
In the above example, the Fasting window is 16 hours and the Feeding window is 8. There are other methods but this one is the most utilized, sustainable and studied (for now). The timing of your 2 windows can be whatever suits your schedule. I would suggest starting off with a 14/10 hr split and gradually extending the Fasting window to 16 hrs. . The windows can be whatever suits your schedule the best. The example above is probably best for someone who works 9-5 but if you work a night shift, you can flip it by 12 hours. Basically just wait about 5 hours after you’ve woken up to start eating and stop eating about 3 hours before you go to bed 😊

There is also evidence that suggests that Intermittent Fasting could improve metabolism and growth hormone production, however, whether this is 100% true and/or significant is still very debatable

At the end of the day, if you’re trying to lose a few lbs and if your schedule and lifestyle meshes well with Intermittent Fasting then give it a shot 🏀

SIMPLE SWAP👌🏻🙌🏻 . It’s the small changes which actually make a big difference. In this case I simply swapped rice for brussel sprout rice to save 183 calories. To make, simply cut sprouts in half, pop into a food processor and whizz for 20–30 seconds. How easy is that! Highlights from Friday - Sunday (ft Meal Prep) 15/100 days completed. Currently floating a little over my average daily deficit - nothing a few lower calorie days can’t fix Protein target hit and exceeded every day bar 8gs on Saturday 👌 Training is inconsistent to non-existent so need to fix that this week #NeatUp247 = clearing 15k a day average 🤙 Measurements on Saturday were pretty inconclusive, but no training and coming in higher on calories back end of the week were always gunn make it difficult. 3 weeks sober and the most consistent I’ve been in ages so lots of positives! #jamessmithacademy #jsam #cfd #caloriefuckingdeficit

Hey guys! 👋🏼 I know I’ve been quite slack at posting. But truth be told, I’m really finding social media a bit boring at the moment. I haven’t had Facebook for a few weeks and insta is starting to grate on me a bit. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s quite solely based around the JSA or if it’s because of some of the pages I’m following. ANYWAY...this then leads to the fact that I keep forgetting I’m part of the #unofficialbali gang and so I haven’t done measurements or pictures as of yet this week. But I’ve noted it and will do then tomorrow morning. I’m still in school limbo with the boys and we’ve got one half day left until they start full time on Wednesday. So everything just seems a bit disjointed at the moment. Just about managed to keep it in #cfd last week...steps were pretty decent too. So I’m happy, just plodding along. Barbados 🇧🇧🌴 is looming and coming round too quickly for my liking, as much as I’m never gunna be “beach body ready” (that saying fucking grips me, don’t even get me started on those who preach shit about putting on a bikini and JUST BEING ready...that’s all very well and good if you love your body...) but that’s another rant for another day. And tbh, by the looks of the weather I’d be better off taking wellies and a poncho, but we’ll see. Only got myself to blame for slacking the shit outta running/gymming. And let’s be honest, it’s all inclusive as well, so I plan on just drinking my calories for 6 days 😂 neatup as much as possible and giving very little child free fucks. Sooo yesterday I didn't eat until after 2pm because I woke up just before, so last night I had plenty of calories for nighttime snacks, I did a whole day 100% on plan yesterday and still had plenty of snacks to sit in front of the TV on the sofa at nighttime and pig out within calories 🐷 so I'm gonna eat from 2pm everyday!! My face can’t be normal during gym selfies. Sigh. Day 1 of my new hypertrophy program from @andrewdavispt 🤦🏻‍♀️ Back to hitting back squats and deads. So amazing how quickly your body can recover when you allow it proper nutrition, training and SLEEP. It is so so important for recovery and growth. Our daughter told us last August that she was getting married this September in Mexico & I sure was going to try my hardest to be in the best shape I possibly could as wanted to look my best for her special day. . left 2 bottom pics are from July 2018 - this was achieved in a year just with a calorie deficit & minimal exercise - I’d also had an operation on my shoulder in April which then stopped all exercise. . No special tricks etc, just sheer determination. So hormonal, exhausted, back ache, cramps & generally feeling dead - thank god all I had to do for dinner was chuck this in the oven! @pizzaexpress pizza 🍕 Slightly over calories by approx 170 calories but no binging & only 3 mouthfuls of chewing/spitting so not even counting that as anything - I tried a couple of different fudge flavours which were gross and that’s why I spat them out 😂 I’d rather track honestly and be slightly over than try to pretend I got it perfect - no point in kidding yourself right! Slowly seeing changes to my upper back! The oldest photo isn't the best comparison because I have my arms down, but I'm glad I took it despite hating it when I did! I'm feeling a lot stronger recently and in the last 4 weeks I've finally broke through a stale patch with pole where I wasn't progressing with anything. I'm working towards getting those 'dream' moves and I'm excited to see what will happen by the end of these 12 weeks. I also suspect starting CrossFit 2 months ago has had an impact, as I'm doing more upper body work now than I'd done in the previous 6 months. Going to be honest, I've spent the last 4 days eating EVERYTHING. So I need to get my act together and get back on track. I've got ALL the bloating and a serious lack of energy because of it. Amazing how much the quality of your diet effects your body. That said, I know how to get back on track and have no worries about doing so. Started the challenge at 242.8lbs. Weighed in last 2 days at 229lbs bang on. I know that a good few lbs were owed to my overindulgence the week before I started but I'm still really pleased to be down 13.8lbs at the end of week 5 having had a week in surplus as well. Set myself quite a big goal by the end of the challenge particularly given that I'd been losing weight well anyway. Feeling amazing at the moment though and for all the soreness and early starts, building training into my life again has felt so good.
