Fate whispers to the warrior, “You can not withstand the storm.”
The warrior whispers back, “I am the storm.”
You can let life happen to you or you can happen to life. For too long I was just a victim of all the shitty things that had happened to me, I was an expert in self loathing. I was the guy with a heart issue, I was the guy who had a pace maker and the guy with debilitating anxiety. I was the guy who got fired from his job. The guy who’s wife left him. The guys who’s kids are mad at him. The guy who had no friends, The guy who couldn’t go more than a few days without crying. They guy who got fat and out of shape. The guy who had become just a shell of the man he once was, and the thoughts go on and on. Until one day, I looked in the mirror and owned ever single thing that has ever happened to me. There is so much power to be had in ownership of your life. I got up and got in the drivers seat. I decided that I wasn’t going to just sit and let life happen to me. I would be the change that I wanted to see my life.... I would be the storm. 🌩 This didn’t magically fix anything, this didn’t make all those things not happen, but shifting my perspective sure did help. All of this change is a never ending journey and it will be for nothing if I don’t remember that. There were times in my life when things seemed perfect and times when I thought I had it all figured out. Boy was I wrong! Life has a way of humbling you really fast. The truth is, growing is never ending. We will never arrive! Each day is a new chance to improve, to love, to learn something new. To see the world with a different lens. I have been blessed with so many supportive people in my life to help me on my journey and who continue to play a huge roll in my development as a person.
