There are certain travel photos where everyone takes the exact same photo, taken from the exact same place. The Taj Mahal and Machu Picchu are two of the best examples. Lake Moraine in Banff National Park is another one.
To take this photo you have to go to Lake Moraine, which is very close to Lake Louise, and take the path up the hill of rocks that borders the lake. You can’t really miss it. It isn’t a difficult walk and at the top you see this view.
As with most iconic photos, you want to get there before the tour buses show up. Summer in Banff is incredibly crowded, so you want to get here as early as possible after sunrise. ⠀⠀⠀
I visited Banff in the winter a few years ago, and the road to Lake Moraine was closed and wasn’t plowed.
