Rugged peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California and closeup of the Milky Way in the tail of the celestial Scorpion, a single-exposure photograph with Sigma 105mm telephoto at f1.4! An image that was impossible to capture on a single frame with the older equipment.
Followers frequently ask about my night sky photography gears. The @sigmaphoto Art Series lenses are in my favorite list because of fast aperture and high quality sharp image even when used at wide open aperture. Last summer I tested both 105mm 1.4 and the lighter 135mm 1.8 Sigma Art lenses for the first time and was amazed by their perfection. Although such focal length is often used for portraits and most nightscape photographers prefer super wide-angles of 14mm to 16mm, I find the higher focal length of 35mm to 135mm very useful for surreal views of the sky details above a far foreground.
