in just over a month I’m heading out on the road to begin a year long project documenting America, all of America. the past few weeks have been spent scouring maps, demographic data, sociology papers, historical sources and decades of statistics regarding industry in order to connect the dots on what and where to explore. I want the images and words to be representative, observational and based upon the tangible, tactile struggles of modern American life. the goal is to have a photo book finished and ready for publication by mid-summer 2020. I’ll be funding the project myself, it isn’t something I want to allow corporate interest. if and when I run out of money, I’ll have to hustle for a while to get back out there. I’m going to be using this platform throughout to connect with subjects along the way. sharing images and words as they happen, and asking for advice from those of you who might’ve grown up or currently live in the cities and towns I come upon. I want it to be all-encompassing culturally, to turn over as many stones as possible, which makes me extremely excited and nervous, feels good to be both.
