Reposted from @ashleygwinter - I had 0% thought that I'd be in a relationship with a comedian. Hell, until the night I accidentally met Mo, I had never been to a comedy club, or watched a stand up special. .
Being a doctor is scary. Doing surgery can be terrifying. But when you choose to be a doctor- you choose a path where you know the steps to success. Study, get to work early, bust your ass, study, pass your test, etc.
But these guys- doing comedy- live a life of uncertainty to be creative and live their dream. It's impressive and inspiring. Its a life I never felt was real. Coming home to Mo's stories of pilot projects, and pitches, and new jokes, and stuff he's cooked up w this rad dude Theo- is refreshing and weird and different than a day in the Hospital.
It's a wild ride being a urologist- turned-comedian-lacky... and can't imagine my life now any other way.
So if you are single- maybe try dating someone who does something radically different than you. And if you aren't single- maybe make a friend who's living a radically different life. It's so awesome.
