What an awesome way to end the week! This is why we place so much value on ensuring we have funding for the VINP turtle program and for our SKIP (School Kids in the Park) Program that provides environmental education programming to public and private schools, as well as homeschool students, throughout the Virgin Islands. We are truly blessed to have a National Park as our front yard!
Thank you Laura Dunlap, Fourth Grade teacher at Gifft Hill School, for this wonderful note: "So much gratitude for an amazing experience excavating a hawksbill sea turtle nest today. Beyond an amazing experience, we will be able to draw on this day throughout the year as we study adaptations, keystone species, the human impact on nature, fractions, and lessons I haven’t yet realized I can tie in. Thank you to all who helped make it happen:
Adren for organizing the day and providing our students with prior knowledge through an engaging in-class presentation.
Raf for welcoming us to Windswept and sharing his lifetime of knowledge, experience, and passion.
Friends of the Park for funding a SKIP grant that provided waterproof notebooks and tape measures for our data gathering, note-taking, and question recording.
Ranger Laurel for securing our 4th Grade in the Park Passes, a National initiative established by President Obama, to allow us to access Trunk Bay free of charge.
Gifft Hill School for championing experiential learning and making it available to so many." 🌴🙏 #ittakesanisland #grateful #nationalparkgeek #findyourpark #vinationalpark #stjohnusvi #usvi
