This building is a Measina (treasure) of Samoa and the Samoan people. It has played a significant role on our road to Independence.
The repairs will cost tens of millions, at this point it's way too expensive and beyond repair. So the best option is to try to "build something at least a similar facade."
BETTER to PRESERVE, rather than DEMOLISH🗣
This touches me deeply not only because it’s a precious landmark of my island, but also because my late Aunty Sina used to work here. I spent some parts of my childhood in this building as she used to take my brother and I with her to work, we'd hang around waiting until she was finished.
Every time I pass this building when I'm back home in Samoa, I think of her. Very bittersweet memories🌺
There is an online petition, link is in my profile... PLEASE feel free to sign and donate if you can. It will only take a minute of your time.
Spread awareness so PLEASE share on your social platforms, we must educate our young and allow them to be a part of history that has the potential to help preserve MY people’s history.
And in a way I guess you could say this is my Mauna Kea, my Ihumātao✊🏽🇼🇸
